Post the airing of the film, fans had taken to social networking forums to reminisce the time when it had released leading to Mankatha costume designer Vasuki Bhaskar as well coming on Twitter and sharing a never-before-known secret. Vasuki spoke about how director Venkat Prabhu had wanted a chain for a dollar to be worn by Ajith in the film as the accessory was going to be crucial during the climax sequence. The team had zeroed in on a handcuff-shaped chain dollar, which laid emphasis on Ajith's character, Vinayak's backstory in the film as a disgraced cop.
