Acclaimed Tamil pattimandram speaker Bharathi Baskar has garnered a huge following over the years among the Tamil-speaking people around the world for her speeches in debate shows. Having shown her proficiency as an orator and writer, the 52-year-old became a household name after appearing in Pattimandram shows that are usually telecast on Sun TV for special occasions and festivals. 

The pattimandram shows Bharathi Baskar mostly participates in are moderated by veteran scholar and actor Solomon Pappiah, which often has her involved in debates with Raja, who is known for his witty remarks, and their subsequent statements get a huge feedback. The popular speaker, who has also made appearances in a few Tamil films, is working as a senior staff in a leading private bank. Having said that, Bharathi Baskar is currently undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Chennai after she fell ill, and has since undergone brain surgery, actress-politician Khushbu Sundar said on Twitter on Monday. 

Khushbu wrote, "#BharathiBhaskar ma known for her wit n smile, apart from her tamil, has suddenly taken ill. Every tamilian world over will always have a smile reserved for her. She has undergone a surgery on her brain. Pls pray for her speedy recovery.
