As we all know, legendary singer S.P.Balasubrahmanyam is currently getting treated for Corona at MGM Healthcare hospital in Chennai. He has been critical and on life support for the past few days and the entire country has been praying for the legendary singer’s speedy recovery. Indeed, many leading celebrities from the Tamil film industry and the fans gathered together for a mass prayer on August 20 to pray for SPB’s recovery. SPB Charan has been regularly sharing updates about his father’s health condition and the hospital management has also been releasing press notes on a daily basis. Having said that, MGM Healthcare has released today’s (August 22) health bulletin of SPB and it states that the veteran singer continues to be on ventilator and ECMO support. They’ve also added that his health condition is stable and the hospital is working with International doctors from the US and UK to monitor SPB’s health condition.

The official statement from MGM Healthcare dated August 22 reads, “Thiru S P Balasubrahmanyam who had been admitted at MGM Healthcare due to COVID-19 continues to be on Ventilator and ECMO Support in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU). His current clinical condition is stable, and he continues to be closely monitored by our multidisciplinary clinical team. MGM Healthcare's multidisciplinary team consists of specialists from Internal Medicine, Critical Care, Pulmonology, Infectious Diseases and ECMO care. Our multidisciplinary team is actively collaborating with international experts from reputed centers in the U.S. and U.K., that have witnessed large volumes of COVID-19 patients requiring ECMO support. The international experts concur with the clinical care that is being provided by our expert medical team to Thiru S P Balasubrahmanyam.

Let us hope that SPB recovers soon and makes our lives better with his songs and music. After being admitted to the hospital on August 5th, SPB released a video from the hospital and said that he had mild symptoms of Corona, adding that he was having a cold. S.P.Balasubrahmanyam has worked across Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, Hindi and Malayalam film industries and has won six National Film Awards. He has also been honoured with the Padma Shri and Padma Bhushan. Since his singing debut in 1966 with the Telugu film Sri Sri Sri Maryada Ramanna, Balasubrahmanyam has recorded over 40,000 songs in 16 Indian languages.
