Jyotika’s Ponmagal Vandhal is all set to be released directly on OTT platform and the film is expected to stream on Prime Video from the first week of May. Though this has not gone well with the Tamil Nadu Theatre Owners Association, Suriya and 2D Entertainment are firm in their stand and fortunately, many producers have come in support of Suriya’s decision. This has indeed paved the way for many other producers to look at the possibilities of direct OTT releases, rather than waiting for the theatrical release.

If the latest Kollywood reports are to be believed, Santhanam’s long-pending Server Sundaram is one of the films that could probably have a direct release on OTT platform. It is said that the makers are in talks with a leading OTT company to release the film directly on their platform. Server Sundaram is one film that is finding it hard to hit the screens for more than 2 years and has seen several postponements in the release dates. Recently, the film’s director Anand Balki took to his Twitter space to vent out his feelings to the fans, thereby revealing the reason behind the delay in the film’s release.

He clarified that his team ended up collaborating with wrong buyers (distributors) for the film and are paying for it now. However, he sounded positive and assured the fans that the film will release very soon. He also put up another tweet asking the fans if Server Sundaram can be released directly on OTT platform. However, a section of Santhanam fans were disappointed and opined that it would be better if the film releases in theatres, first. Are we going to see Server Sundaram, directly on OTT? Well, let us keep our fingers crossed and wait for the official word. Check out Anand Balki’s tweets below:
