Leading Malayalam superstar Prithviraj Sukumaran has announced his next grand project titled Kaapa, with the actor taking to social media on Wednesday to unveil the film’s announcement motion poster. Prithviraj was also complimented by legendary Malayalam superstars Mammootty and Mohanlal, who launched the illustrious venture’s promo on their respective social media pages, thus amplifying the excitement and expectations for the upcoming film right from the get go. In Kaapa, Prithviraj will be seen alongside National Award-winning actress and Asuran fame Manju Warrier, including Anna Ben, who impressed fans with her performances in Kumbalangi Nights and Helen, with Asif Ali also cast in a pivotal role. 

Kaapa was launched with an intense motion poster that teased the film's plot, including introducing the lead actors in the film. Sharing the Kaapa motion poster, Prithviraj wrote, "Privileged to be part of #KAAPA - The Ring of Death!  #FEFKA Writers Union and #TheatreOfDreams Production. A story out of my city.. THIRUVANANTHAPURAM!" Likewise, Mammootty and Mohanlal who unveiled the Kaapa motion poster wrote, "Here's the motion poster of 'KAAPA', directed by Venu, starring Prithviraj Sukumaran, Asif Ali, Manju Warrier, and Anna Ben. This is a venture initiated by FEFKA Writers Union and I wish them all the very best!"

Apart from the power-packed cast on board Kaapa, the film being produced by Dolwin Kuriakose, Jinu V Abhraham and Dileesh Nair is touted to be an action thriller drama is being directed by Venu, with a talented technical team on board among whom include Justin Varghese for the music, editor Mahesh Narayanan, cinematographer John Varughese, with the story, screenplay and dialogues written by GR Indugopa. The title of Kaapa is reportedly based on the Kerala Anti-social Activities (Prevention) Act, and is commonly referred to as the Goonda Act, with speculations that the film will also be based on the same.
