The stage is set and the countdown is on for the release of ace filmmaker Mani Ratnam's magnum opus, Ponniyin Selvan: 2, which is scheduled to be launched into cinemas worldwide on April 28. The upcoming epic historical action adventure film is a sequel to the 2022 box office blockbuster, Ponniyin Selvan: 1, which ended up minting more than 500 crores in global collections, has been riding on massive expectations ever since the first installment ended on a cliffhanger note. Produced by Lyca Productions in association with Mani Ratnam's Madras Talkies banner and featuring music and background score composed by Academy Award-winning composer A. R. Rahman, the PS: 2 team has released the much-awaited 'Chinnanjiru Nilave' song video today, which is featured on the characters portrayed by 'Chiyaan' Vikram and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan.

The 'Chinnanjiru Nilave' song lyric video in Ponniyin Selvan: 2 is picturized on Vikram's Aditha Karikalan and Aishwarya Rai's Nandini, and has been sung by Haricharan Seshadri to the lyrics penned by Ilango Krishnan. With less than 10 days now for the release of the highly-anticipated sequel, promotions are in full swing for the film as the cast has been touring major cities across the country, with the response so far being nothing short of outstanding. Vikram as Aditha Karikalan and Aishwarya Rai as Nandini are part of a world in which there are several other prominent characters namely Arunmozhi Varma played by Jayam Ravi, followed by Karthi as Vanthiyathevan and Trisha as Kundavai, who form the core cast in PS: 2.
The Ponniyin Selvan films are based on acclaimed Tamil writer Kalki Krishnamurthy's novels of the same name and have been described by Mani Ratnam on several occasions as his "dream project". The films have been a rage for well over a year now as Mani Ratnam's adaptation of the world created by Kalki, the characters portrayed by the lead and the ensemble star cast, and A. R. Rahman's music have been the talking points among Tamil cinema audiences all this time.
