It is that time of the day when the official number of the COVID-19 cases are released and May 14th has finally become the day with the lowest recorded cases in the past 10 days. However, the numbers are still very high, especially in Chennai. The official numbers of #COVID-19 Novel Corona Virus cases in Tamil Nadu are out and we have it for you. The numbers for the last 24 hours show that Tamil Nadu has had 447 new cases of COVID positive being reported, taking the overall total to 9,674! Of these, 363 new cases have been identified in Chennai alone, taking the district's total to 5,637, with Tiruvallur having 15 cases, Chengalpattu registering 9 new cases and Thiruvannamalai 8!

There have been 2 new COVID related deaths in Tamil Nadu in the past 24 hours, taking the total to 66. As of now, Chennai is the biggest hotspot in the state and has 5,637 cases registered. The total number of active cases in entire Tamil Nadu, stands at 5,195, thus the number of active cases are far higher than the number of cases recovered! The number of recoveries has been moderate today, with 64 new recoveries and discharges and the total number of recovered people is now at 2,240. There have been 11,956 samples tested, in the past 24 hours alone, taking the total tests to 291,432! Tamil Nadu has now become the the state with the second highest COVID-19 infections in India, following Maharashtra (27,524) and overtaking Gujarat (9,592)!
