In a case that has been making headlines for quite sometime now in Kerala, popular Malayalam television serial actor Adithyan Jayan was arrested in a dowry case by police authorities after his wife Ambili Devi, who as well is a notable actress, registered a complaint alleging that he had subjected her to physical and mental harassment. In her complaint, she had also claimed that Adithyan had swindled around 100 sovereigns of gold ornaments, including Rs. 10 lakhs from her account. Ambili further went on to state that Adithya had threatened her on several occasions and also abused her.

Based on Ambili Devi's complaint, police officials lodged a case against Adithyan for dowry harassment, criminal intimidation and for causing disrepute to women's modesty by speaking obscene language in a public space. Adithyan, however, was later released on bail after he paid a bond of Rs. 1 lakh with two sureties for the amount at the Kerala High Court. Furthermore, the Court has also given Adithyan clear instructions and orders to not disturb his wife or her work, while also informing him to not post anything on social media or take part in interviews regarding their marriage. The couple, who got married in January 2019, were blessed with a son, born in November the same year.
