It has been a traumatic and distressing time for the entire Indian 2 team after a heavy crane had fallen on three assistants - Krishna (Assistant Director), Chandran (Art Assistant) and Madhu (Production Assistant) - who all succumbed to their deaths while leaving many injured as well. Both Kamal Haasan and director Shankar, who were present at the shooting spot at the EVP Film City on the outskirts of Chennai, had managed to escape from getting hurt physically by a whisker, with Lyca Productions putting the film now on hold for the next few days.

Post his visit, Kamal Haasan had interacted with the press that had gathered and conveyed his sorrows and announced that he will be providing one crore rupees as relief for the families of those who lost their lives in the Indian 2 shooting spot mishap. Post Kamal Haasan's extension of monetary assistance to the families of those deceased, Lyca Productions' Subaskaran has now announced 2 crore rupees as financial relief to families of those who were killed and injured during the accident.
