Director Vishnu Varadhan who gave us some memorable hit films like Arinthum Ariyamalum (2005) and Billa (2007) has been lying low for the past 5 years. His last film was Yatchan which featured his brother Krishna and Arya in the lead roles. It was rumoured that Vishnu Varadhan would be teaming up with Ajith Kumar for the 3rd time after Billa and Arrambam for a historical fantasy film written by Balakumaran. When that film did not materialize, Vishnu Varadhan started working on a Hindi film titled Shershaah.  
 
Shershaah is a biographical action flick co-produced by Karan Johar. The film talks about the professional and personal life of army officer and Param Vir Chakra awardee Vikram Batra. Sidharth Malhotra plays a double role, as Batra and his identical twin brother Vishal. Kiara Advani who plays the female lead will be the pair one of the brothers. Not many Tamil directors have had the chance to excel in Bollywood industry.
