Popular Malayalam actor KTS Padannayil aka KT Subramanian Padannayil passed away on Thursday morning. He was 88. The veteran actor breathed his last at 6.40 am after being admitted to a private hospital in Kadavanthara on July 19 and had been undergoing treatment for age-related ailments. KTS Padannayil is survived by wife Ramani and children Shyam, Swapna, Sannan, and Saljan. Condolences have been pouring in from notable Malayalam personalities, including Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan and Education Minister V Sivankutty, who paid their respects for the demise of Padannayil. 

Leading Malayalam film industry celebrities like Mohanlal, Mammootty, Dileep, Suresh Gopi, Prithiviraj Sukumaran and many others too have paid their tributes to KTS Padannayil. Hailing from Tripunithara, the late actor's career began in theatre after which he made a transition to Malayalam cinema in the 1990s. He made his acting debut in Malayalam films in 1995 in Aniyan Bava Chettan Bava under Rajasenan's direction and has since then gone on to garner a fan following for his comedy and dialogue delivery. Some of his other big notable performances include films like Sreekrishnapurathe, Vrudhanmare Sookshikkuka and Nakshatrathilakkam, which continue to be admired by fans to date, while also being appreciated in Adyathe Kanmani, Swapnalokathe Balabhaskar, Amar Akbar Anthony and Kunjiramayanam. In a career spanning nearly two decades, KTS Padannayil went on to appear in more than 60 films.
