The nation is under the 21-day lockdown announced by the Central Government and people have been advised to remain inside their houses, under seld isolation and to maintain social distancing! People have been asked to come outside, only for very urgent needs or to purchase basic essentials. The Central and State Governments are doing their best to ensure that people get all their basic needs at their houses or at a single place itself and now the Tamil Nadu Government has come up with a new initiative. The lockdown period is likely to be extended and to help the people, the TN Govt is planning to sell grocery items in the Ration Shops!

TN Govt decides to sell groceries at ration shops during COVID lockdown

A new announcement from the Chief Minister's Office states that 19 types of grocery items are going to be packed as a kit and sold through the Ration Shops, which are already giving out relief measures like cash and rice. The grocery items include basic essentials like pulses, oil, tamarind, chillies, spices, tea powder, salt and other such things. These 19 items in specific quantities would be packed together in a gunny bag and each be sold at Rs. 500. The market price value of each bag is touted to be Rs. 600 worth but the Government is planning to sell this at a subsidised cost of Rs. 500, to help the people in need!
