One Tamil cinema talent who has made a successful transition from filmmaking to acting, especially over these past five years, SJ Suryah left a lasting impression as a performer in a number of films among which include Karthik Subbaraj's multi-starrer Iraivi, Mahesh Babu's Spyder, the blockbuster 'Thalapathy' Vijay-starrer Mersal, the comedy Monster and Selvaraghavan's horror thriller Nenjam Marappathillai. Currently attached to projects like Silambarasan TR’s Maanaadu, Sivakarthikeyan’s Don, Kadamaiyai Sei opposite Yaashika Aannand, the long-delayed Iravaakaalam, there is also the upcoming Bommai directed by Radhamohan, who is known for his feel-good dramas like Azhagiya Theeye, Mozhi, Abhiyum Naanum to name a few. Bommai, which has SJ Suryah opposite Priya Bhavani Shankar, marks their reunion on the big screen once again after Monster, with the filmmaker turned actor on Saturday clarifying about the film's trailer release plans.

One Twitter user had pointed out that fans can expect the Bommai trailer on July 20 on the occasion of SJ Suryah's birthday for which the blockbuster director-actor responded back saying there might be a delay in those plans as the state government is postponing the permission for the film's theatrical release due to the pandemic. However, he did assure that the Bommai trailer will be a solid treat when it arrives. He wrote, "Govt keep postponing the theatrical release permission …. So accordingly there might be a little DELAY in BOMMAI TRAILER RELEASE ….. SORRY FRIENDS …. But anyway ALL FOR GOOD…. VARUMBODHU SOLID AH VANDHUDALLAM 👍👍👍sjs."

Produced by Angel Studios MH LLP, Bommai is currently in its final stages of post-production, with the film also featuring music by Yuvan Shankar Raja and cinematography by Richard M Nathan. The Anbe Aaruyire star had recently informed fans that Yuvan's compositions in the film will be "great", while adding that his background score work "will be out of the world". For a while now, SJ Suryah has asserted that Bommai will showcase him in a different dimension than he has been seen on the big screen in recent times.
