Though most celebrities come with with their own glamour, fame and charm, there are some who stand out for their sheer spirit. Simran was not just another heroine for the 90s' theatre-goer. She was a young, pretty face, an actor of high calibre, a person of sublime work ethics, with personal decorum that qualifies her as a 'consummate professional'. An actor with practically no haters, Simran is the reason why several of her movies earned praise. When the lady arrived at the Galatta Wonder Women awards looking like a dream, we crushed on her along with the starstruck audience, taking turns and competing to give the lady water, a tissue paper - anything that she needed! Because Simran is a part of the collective memories of our childhoods and the lady seemed to be oblivious to the love and respect she commands.

Simran gets Evergreen Empress Award from GVM at Galatta Wonder Women Awards

Because Simran is a sweetheart, she agreed to give away a couple of awards on our behalf. When it was time to honour her, we had a surprise for her too. Director Gautham Vasudev Menon graciously agreed to present Simran her award and on-stage, the gentleman of Tamil cinema ushered Simran on with the dialogue, "Hi, Malini, I am Gautham...", an unforgettable dialogue from their movie together - Vaaranam Aayiram. A visibly touched Simran expressed her gratitude on receiving the award from one of the most respected directors, calling the laurel a 'memory forever'. We heartfully thank the 'Evergreen Empress' Simran for honouring the Galatta Wonder Women Awards with her presence.
