A collaboration that always brings a smile among every Tamil cinema fan, the news of 'Superstar' Rajinikanth possibly acting in a film under Kamal Haasan's Raaj Kamal Films International banner sent the excitement levels off the roof. The news still seems too huge to be true as of now, but the hype skyrocketed furthermore after there were speculations that Lokesh Kanagaraj would be entrusted with the directorial duties.

Lokesh Kanagaraj's fortunes changed overnight after he was handpicked to direct the upcoming, 'Thalapathy' Vijay and 'Makkal Selvan' Vijay Sethupathi starrer, Master, announced for a grand summer release this April. With Master set to wrap up production soon in the days ahead, there is strong buzz now doing the rounds that the pooja for the Rajinikanth-Kamal Haasan mega film being called Thalaivar 169, under Lokesh Kanagaraj's direction would be held on March 5, 2020.

Both Kamal Haasan and Rajinikanth have been close friends since the early 1970s when they were starting out as actors and have since appeared in films together on several occasions. This will turn out to be a massive news when announced officially considering the last time Rajinikanth and Kamal Haasan had come together for a film was 35 years back when they acted in the Hindi film, Geraftaar, which also had the 'Shahenshah' of Bollywood, Amitabh Bachchan. As of now, Rajinikanth is shooting for his upcoming rural action family entertainer, Annaatthe, under Siva's direction while Lokesh Kanagaraj is set to complete shooting for Vijay's Master and then proceed to the film's post-production.
