Following the rapid spread of the COVID-19 Novel Corona Virus across the world, the Indian government brought into effect a 21-day lockdown, across our country! We are already into the third week of this lockdown, which will be in effect till April 14th. However, the deadly virus continues to spread unchecked, across the country and the number of infected people has crossed 5000 with the death toll going way over a 100. The Chief Minister of Telangana had earlier requested the Central Government to extend the lockdown period and since then, the PM has also been in touch with the Chief Ministers of various states, to get their inputs before making an informed decision.

PM Narendra Modi hints at lockdown extension in all party meeting

Today, Narendra Modi held an all-party meeting via video conferencing and reports state that he has hinted at extending the lockdown period to ensure that the spread of the Virus is contained. A number of other pertinent issues have also been discussed during this meeting, including making the Corona Virus testing free of cost and also make Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) available to those who need it. The opposition is also said to have recommended that the government raises the stimulus to 5% of the GDP. Earlier today, it was revealed that the Tamil Nadu government would take a call on extending the lockdown, tomorrow. We also hear that Narendra Modi has scheduled another round of meetings with the CM's of different states, on Saturday.
