Superstar Rajinikanth’s Darbar is off to a fantastic start at the box office and the film is running with packed houses in the theatres. On the other hand, his previous release, Petta is celebrating its first year anniversary today (January 10). Last year’s Pongal race at the box office is a history in Tamil cinema as we witnessed an epic clash between Rajinikanth’s Petta and Ajith’s Viswasam. The best part was both the films managed to emerge as blockbusters and it also gave an amazing start to that year’s box office. The film was directed by Karthik Subbaraj who is an ardent fan of Superstar Rajinikanth.

He made sure he got all the nostalgic Thalaivar moments in the film rightly and it also got a phenomenal response from the fans. Many people felt that the film brought back the Rajinikanth who was loved by the audience during the 80s and 90s. Marking the one year of Petta’s release, Sun Pictures shared a video on Twitter thanking the audience for the love and support. Director Karthik, for his part, shared a short emotional note on Twitter, thanking his entire team and the audience for making the film what it is today. He also thanked his idol Rajinikanth and Sun Pictures for assembling this project.
