Union Minister of Health and Family Welfare Dr. Harsh Vardhan on Tuesday in a statement said that eighty districts across India have not reported a single coronavirus case over the last 7 days. Harsh Vardhan informed of this latest development during his interaction through video conferencing with bureaucrats from various public sector units (PSUs) in Delhi.

Health Minister Harsh Vardhan further added saying no fresh COVID-19 case was reported in the past 14 days in 47 districts while 39 districts have not seen a case of infection in the last 21 days and concluded that 17 districts have not recorded a case in the last 28 days. "No fresh case has been reported in 80 districts since the last 7 days. In 47 districts, no case has been reported in the last 14 days, while 39 districts have not reported a case for the last 21 days. Seventeen districts have not reported a case for the last 28 days," he said. Speaking about the impact and the effects of the disease across the country, Minister Harsh Vardhan stated that more than 300 districts are non-hotspots while 129 districts with COVID-19 cases are serious hotspots. Furthermore, no positive coronavirus case has been recorded in 16 districts over the past 24 hours.

Dr. Harsh Vardhan also said that India will be able to manufacture indigenous coronavirus testing kits by May, which are currently in an advanced stage and will aid in testing one lakh people per day. He said, "We will be able to produce RT-PCR and antibody test kits in India by May. All processes are in an advanced stage and production will start after getting approval from ICMR. It will help us in meeting our target of one lakh tests per day by May 31,". With the global tally crossing 3 million, India continues to battle the coronavirus pandemic with the nation's total reaching 29,435, including 21,632 active cases with 6869 recovered patients and 934 deaths, according to the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.
