Lyca Productions is one of the leading production houses in Tamil Cinema and they have had a number of recent releases with quite a few other projects in the pipeline. However, they have now landed in trouble because of the recently released Mafia: Chapter 1, which was directed by Karthick Naren and had Arun Vijay, Prasanna & Priya Bhavani Shankar as part of the cast! This highly expected movie released to mixed reviews and was recently released online through the OTT platform - Amazon Prime. Based on a cat & mouse game between a cop and a drug lord, this movie is an action thriller which has many investigative sequences. In one such sequence, there is a board depicting the drug lord's connections and it had some photos of people on it!

Mafia Chapter 1 in legal trouble for using serial killer victims photos

It has now come to light that the photos used in this particular sequence are those of 5 of the eight victims murdered by the Toronto serial killer Bruce McArthur! The families of these victims have come to know about this and their spokesperson has taken to the media to slam the producers and this movie's team for being insensitive and once again bringing grief to the families of these victims. On coming to know of this, Amazon Prime has removed the title Mafia: Chapter 1 for viewing in Canada and Lyca Productions has also issued a statement of apology to the victims' families. They have agreed to blur the photos of the victims and provide a new copy to Amazon Prime, for making available on the digital platform.
