Over the years, there have been many instances where rave parties in Chennai's five star hotels and private residences have been reported. With the government enforcing strict protocols over the past one and a half years due to the coronavirus pandemic, the Chennai Police on Monday received a tip off regarding rave parties being organised at one particular luxury bungalow villa in the Kanathur area. Upon receiving information about a rave party held at the private residence, the police had conducted a raid on the bungalow and found as close to fifteen women and several men enjoying themselves in the midst of high-priced liquor, dancing, and other activities.

During the investigation, it was discovered that actress Kavitha Sri had rented the bungalow residence and organised the rave party for which she had charged between Rs. 1,500-2,000 for men every night, while making the entry fee free for women. The actress, who had been seen in supporting roles in South Indian films, was subsequently arrested, with police authorities and officials sealing the premises of the building and registering a case. It has been revealed that the men who attended the party were aged above 40 years and would throw money at the women who were dancing. It is stated that the men who bid the most for the women could engage with them. Film aficionados will remember Kavita Sri as a junior artiste, who portrayed the role of a ruthless cop in director Shankar's 1994 Tamil blockbuster Kadhalan, which had Prabhu Deva, Nagma, Vadivelu, S. P. Balasubrahmanyam, Girish Karnad and Raghuvaran in starring roles.
