To bring awareness among the public about the seriousness of the Coronavirus and the need to follow Section 144, Varun Kumar IPS, SP for Ramanathapuram District, shared a video featuring director Gautham Vasudev Menon on his social media page. In this video, Gautham Menon requested the people to follow the Government instructions seriously to stay safe. He asked people not to come out in their vehicles as it would be seized by the Police officials for violating the rules of Section 144.

The stylish filmmaker said, “I am speaking on this video, respecting the request made by Ramanathapuram SP, Dr Varun Kumar IPS. What I am going to talk about now will apply to everyone including me. Section 144 has been imposed throughout the state and people who violate the rules and travel on roads would have their vehicles seized. They would have to face dire consequences. If they file an FIR, you would have to face legal problems and this in turn, would affect your future plans, when you apply for a job or plan to go abroad. Please stay at home. There are many people out there who don’t get proper food and shelter.

We have access to the internet and we can probably start an online community and coordinate with others to help the poor. I am helping people through that only. Watch movies, read books, do things that you like. Usually, we filmmakers ask you to watch our films, but this time, I’d like to tell you not to watch two of my films. Please don’t watch Achcham Yenbadhu Madamaiyada and Yennai Arindhaal as both the films have travel sequences. In AYM, Simbu goes on a beautiful road trip with his girlfriend and I don’t want you to get inspired by that.

In Yennai Arindhaal, Ajith takes his daughter and travels to different places. Given the current situation, don’t see that. You can see Vaaranam Aayiram. In that film, the hero does exercise and workouts to come out of depression and it makes him feel fresh. In fact, while we filmed, Suriya trained for 6 months to get it right and he liked it. Get inspired from scenes like that and perform exercises at your home. Try whatever you can do from your homes. Take section 144 seriously. Take corona seriously.”

On the professional front, Gautham Menon’s next release would be Joshua: Imai Pol Kaakha, starring Puppy fame Varun. There is also Dhruva Natchathiram, starring Chiyaan Vikram, which will hit the screens once Joshua releases. He is in talks with actors like Kamal Haasan, Suriya, and Anushka for different projects.
