Karthi's Kaithi is one of the important films in Tamil cinema and it was a highly successful film at the box office. The film also earned positive reviews from critics. Kaithi made Lokesh Kanagaraj a prominent director in Tamil cinema and the film landed him several exciting projects including his next, Vikram, starring Kamal Haasan. Recently, a section of media reported that the Kerala High Court ordered an injunction on Kaithi, thereby stopping the makers from remaking the film or doing a sequel to it. Having said that, Kaithi's production house, Dream Warrior Pictures (owned by SR Prakash Babu and SR Prabhu) has issued an official statement regarding the same.

In the statement, the makers have mentioned that they'd approach the case legally and asked the media houses not to speculate baseless rumours. The official statement (loosely translated in English) read, "Greetings to all. Under the production of our Dream Warrior Pictures, we made a film titled Kaithi, starring Mr Karthi, written & directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj. Through the media, we learnt that there is an injunction against the film in the Kerala High Court, and it meant that we are banned from doing Kaithi 2 or remakes of Kaithi in other languages. Several media houses have been contacting us regarding the same.

Since we are not officially updated about the case details, we cannot reveal or share anything, at this moment. At the same time, there have also been baseless accusations against us, reported by media houses and we can confidently deny those allegations and showcase the truth legally. We also request quite a few media houses, which are carrying baseless reports without knowing the final status of the case, to function ethically. Thanks".

More details regarding this case are awaited. The Hindi remake of Kaithi is on cards and it will have Ajay Devgn playing the lead role. The film is currently in the pre-production stages. On the other hand, Kaithi 2 is also happening and Lokesh will work on the film as soon as he completes his ongoing commitments.
