Collecting around 7 crores in Tamil Nadu in the opening weekend is a no mean task and these figures are the reflection of the film’s buzz among the mainstream general audience. As far as the Chennai city box office is concerned, Dulquer Salmaan’s Kannum Kannum Kollaiyadithaal has topped the list and Draupathi holds the second place. But, Draupathi has managed to do really well in other parts of Tamil Nadu, especially in the B and C centres and that is the reason behind these huge numbers in the box office.

Well, it looks like the controversial content has helped the film gaining more buzz and visibility. The film talks about various topics including fake marriages, caste-based politics, inter-caste marriage issues, farmers issues, and so on.
