Tamil Nadu government released a new media bulletin with details on Saturday on the number of coronavirus cases in the state and the response to bring down and contain the infection. 938 new cases have been confirmed on Saturday with the state's COVID-19 infection count rising to 21,184 cases. Chennai district has recorded 616 new cases in the last 24 hours taking the total to 13,980 cases as on May 30.

The day also saw 6 deaths with the fatal disease taking Tamil Nadu's toll to 160. As for the number of recoveries, 687 people were discharged from hospitals across the state with the total now hitting 12,000, who have since been sent home. The biggest concerning aspect of the day's COVID-19 infection count is spike of 938 new cases, which is the single highest to date for the state with Chennai city registering the most number of cases.
