Not every successful director leaves a lasting impression like Bharathiraja. His films have not just been pathbreakers back in the 80s but he has also been an inspiration to a lot of inspiring filmmakers. Success and failures never stop him from experimenting, he is one of the gutsiest directors that Tamil cinema has ever witnessed. His classic films like 16 Vayathinile, Kizhakke Pogum Rail, Sigappu Rojakkal, Alaigal Oyvathillai and Mudhal Mariyathai will be talked about for centuries to come.

The six-time National Award-winning filmmaker has delivered notable performances as an actor in films such as Aayutha Ezhuthu, Pandianadu, Kurangu Bommai, Kennedy Club, including the Sivakarthikeyan starrer, Namma Veettu Pillai, which became a box office success last year. He has been waiting for his next directorial release Meendum Oru Mariyathi for the past few years. Apart from helming the directorial hat, he has also played the male lead. The film is all set to release this Friday on the 21st of February. Meendum Oru Mariyathai looks like an intense family drama produced under the Manoj Creations banner with music by N.R.Raghunanthan, lyrics penned by Vairamuthu and the supporting cast also including names like Joe Mallori, Nakshatra and Mounika.
