Popular Bollywood actress Archana Puran Singh, whom Tamil cinema fans know best for playing Trisha's mother in Enakku 20 Unakku 18, recently opened up on the reasons for keeping her marriage with Parmeet Sethi a secret for four years. Having impressed fans in Bollywood blockbusters like Amitabh Bachchan's Agneepath, Aamir Khan's Raja Hindustani and Shah Rukh Khan's Kuch Kuch Hota Hai to name a notable few, Archana stated in an interview with Times Now that her marriage to Parmeet had come to light only in 1995.

Archana Puran Singh and Parmeet wed in 1992 and the couple chose to keep their marriage a secret for the sake of her career. She said, "At that time, in our industry, there was a common perception that if a girl gets married her work dwindles down. In the industry, they used to say that married heroines do not get much work. There is that little chauvinism in the industry. Women and men have different guidelines." Archana further added, "The industry thinks that shadi ho gayi hai, bacha ho jaega (she's married and she'll have children) and then she might leave her commitment halfway through or not devote her time and commitment to our film. Parmeet and I said that marriage was for us, we wanted to do it personally and not keep it a public affair. We both wanted to get married. Parmeet didn't want marriage to affect my career. We both decided to keep it a secret."

Currently serving as one of the judges on The Kapil Sharma Show, Archana had previously spoken about her marriage in December last year. In an episode featuring Neha Kakkar and her husband Rohanpreet Singh, she stated that Parmeet wanted to marry her, while adding that it was around the time of Saif Ali Khan's debut film when she was shooting and did not tell anyone on the sets that she was getting married.
