The COVID-19 Novel Corona Virus Pandemic has laid to waste even the best laid plans of people across the globe. This Pandemic has been ravaging countries for over seven months with no sign of respite and people have even began living with it, calling it the "new normal"! However, come hell or high water, some robbers just seem to not let anything come in the way of their nefarious activities. A shocking incident has come to light, where a gang of robbers have hijacked a truck carrying mobile phones and made off with about Rs. 6 Crores worth of the goods!

Reports state that a gang of robbers hijacked a truck carrying a consignment of new mobile phones from Sriperumbudur in Chennai to Maharashtra. The gang attacked the truck along the Tamil Nadu Andhra Pradesh border and after overpowering the driver, bound and gagged him, pushed him off the truck and took off with the vehicle! After some local residents rescued the truck driver, he managed to reach a nearby Police Station and registered a complaint. The Police rushed into action but found only the truck, abandoned on the Chennai-Tirupati highway, near Nagari.

Police reports state that the truck had originally been carrying about 15,000 units of new mobile phones and when the Police recovered the truck, they noticed over half the consignment (7500 pieces) missing. The robbers seem to have transferred half the contents (worth Rs. 6 Crores), to another vehicle and escaped in it. Investigation is on in this case and the Police are analysing all available CCTV footage to see if they can identify the assailants. This is quite shocking indeed and the experience would definitely have been very traumatic for the truck driver. Stay tuned for updates...
