The well-known Velammal group of institutions is the latest to join the ever-growing number of philanthropic business entities around the country who are helping people survive and tide over the corona virus crisis.
Over more than 2 months, India has imposed what is arguably one of the world’s strictest lockdowns. While this is aimed at flattening the curve and slowing the spread of the dreaded virus, the ramifications of the lockdown have undeniably left millions of Indians homeless, hungry and helpless.
Chennai has also seen a large number of people suffering during this lockdown.
In order to help- as many people as possible, Velammal Nexus has been providing essential commodities to the deprived families of Chennai and the suburbs. Ever since the lockdown has begun, Velammal Nexus has distributed essential commodities including rice, wheat flour (atta), toor dal, salt and cooking oil in a noble initiative that has benefitted several thousands of families.
We at Galatta extend our appreciation to the management of Velammal Nexus for this heartwarming show of support.
