Not just India but almost the entire world is suffering from the effects of the deadly COVID-19 Novel Corona Virus Pandemic! The Indian Government had ordered a 21-day lockdown period till April 14th but considering the rapid spread of the Virus and the increasing number of fatalities because of it, the Government has extended the lockdown till May 3rd! However, considering the issues faced by the common man during this period, most essential services were made available. Now, it has come to light that banks would also function, going forward!

The State Level Bankers' Committee of Tamil Nadu has released a statement, mentioning that all banks would begin functioning. The statement reveals that the Banks would function from 10:00 am till 2:00 pm, on working days. Earlier, anticipating huge crowds, mainly to withdraw the relief funds credited into the accounts of the people, the banks had been functioning from 10:00 am till 4:00 pm but now that these amounts have mostly been credited and subsequently withdrawn, the banks will go back to working between 10:00 to 14:00 hours. This shall stay in effect till May 3rd and the banks would operate with skeletal staff of 50% employees on a rotational basis. In places where there are more than 1 branch of the same bank, the district authorities may be consulted about which branch to keep open.
