2020 has been a tough year for many facing various losses around the world. The film fraternity has also been getting heartbreaking news lately. The latest shocking news is that the popular producer and Andhra distributor Kamalakar (GK) Reddy (48) of KFC Entertainments and his father Nandagopal Reddy (75) passed away this morning (19th August) around 3 a.m in a road accident near Kondrapol in Damaracharla Mandal.

Kamallakar's father was reportedly tested positive COVID-19 positive and has been undergoing treatment and the accident happened when his father was being taken to Hyderabad for better treatment. The ambulance they were travelling collided head-on with a lorry parked on the road. The two people in the ambulance died on the spot. The ambulance driver was rushed to Miryalaguda Government Hospital with serious injuries. Police rushed to the spot and shifted the bodies to Miryalaguda Government Hospital for post-mortem. Vadapalli SI Vijay Kumar has registered a case and investigations are on. Some reports say that the driver probably fell asleep at the wheel and collided head-on with a truck.

The 48-year-old Kamalakar Reddy was a partner in KFC Entertainment, Secunderabad. He had started his distribution concern with Viacom18’s Tanu Weds Manu in 2011. He distributed many Telugu, Hindi and dubbed Hindi films. He was the regular Nizam and Andhra distributor of films produced by Viacom18 and produced/dubbed by Warner Bros. Among the Telugu films his firm had distributed were blockbusters Arjun Reddy and Agent Sai Srinivasa Athreya. He is also known for distributing movies like Padmavat and several Hollywood movies too.

Prasanna Kumar of Telugu Film Chamber of Commerce (TFCC) described the death as a huge loss to the Telugu film industry. “He was such a kind-hearted person yet straightforward when it comes to working. He was very close to me personally. It’s a big loss to the film industry. He is the official partner for Viacom18 and he is the leading distributor of Hollywood movies here. He has also worked in the distribution of movies in several other states too and has a strong base," said Prasanna Kumar.
