On the occasion of the National Education Day, the Union Minister of Human Resource Development, Ramesh Pokhriyal, will launch SWAYAM 2.0, the second version of the programme initiated by the government to provide the best teaching-learning resources to all. A message to this effect was posted on the social media handles of the HRD ministry on Monday morning.

The National Education Day is observed on November 11, the birth anniversary of India's first Education Minister, Maulana Abul Kalam Azad. SWAYAM, the Central government's programme to achieve the three cardinal principles of Education Policy - access, equity and quality - is all set to get an update in SWAYAM 2. UGC, NCERT, AICTE, IGNOU, IIMB are all part of the nine appointed national coordinators decided for this. SWAYAM 2 seeks to bridge the digital divide among students by taking technology to areas that have not seen it, making learning resources available to all, including the most disadvantaged.

The study material from class 9 to post-graduation will be made available freely under the programme and the courses offered on the site are sculpted by experts and offered for free. To obtain a certificate, however, one has to register for the exams by paying a fee.
