It's officially a go for 'Superstar' Rajinikanth's next big film, the tentatively titled Thalaivar 170, which has rolled into production starting Wednesday, October 4. The team of the upcoming film has made the announcement, while also sharing the first poster of the leading Tamil actor revealing his look on their social handles, and further informing fans that the casting updates have come to a close. This latest Thalaivar 170 poster is also in the black and white monochrome format akin to the ones released earlier and shows Rajinikanth with hair dyed black and carrying a salt and pepper stubble, while sporting wayfarer sunglasses and looking straight up ahead.

Earlier on Tuesday, Rajinikanth addressed media persons at the Chennai Airport while en route to Trivandrum, Kerala, for the shooting of Thalaivar 170 revealing that the film would include a good social message and is set to be made as an entertainer on a grand scale. The film marks the first time the Tamil superstar is teaming up with director T. J. Gnanavel, whose last directorial Jai Bhim starring Suriya garnered immense acclaim from critics and audiences alike. With T. J. Gnanavel delivering big-time with his work on Jai Bhim and Rajinikanth's latest statement about Thalaivar 170 getting fans excited, all sights are now set on the duo to come out firing on all cylinders for their film.

Thalaivar 170 will see Rajinikanth sharing the screen with several big names in Indian cinema starting with the iconic Bollywood superstar Amitabh Bachchan and the duo is set to be seen together once again after 32 years when they were last featured in the nationwide blockbuster, Hum (1991). Likewise, the film also stars National Award-winning Malayalam actor Fahadh Faasil, Baahubali villain Rana Daggubati, Asuran and Thunivu actress Manju Warrier, Oh My Kadavule star Ritika Singh, and Sarpatta Parambarai heroine Dushara Vijayan. Thalaivar 170 also includes the powerhouse addition of 'Rockstar' Anirudh Ravichander, who is composing the songs and the background score for Rajinikanth-starrer for the fourth time after Petta (2019), Darbar (2020), and Jailer (2023).
