Pathu Thala is a recent hit film starring Silambarasan TR as a lead. It is the third continuous hit for the actor after Maanadu and Vendhu Thanindhathu Kaadu. The film was an official remake of the hit Kannada language film Mufti and was directed by Obeli N Krishna of Sillunu Oru Kaadhal fame. It was bankrolled by K.E. Gnanavelraja under his banner Studio Green and he launched his production house with the director's hit film Sillunu Oru Kaadhal. The action thriller was released on 30th March 2023 and opened to positive reviews. STR has taken up the role of AGR an influential don who hold power in Kanyakumari. It also has Gautham Karthik play an important role, with Priya Bhavani Shankar as the female lead. Anu Sithara has starred as STR's sister and Gautham Vasudev Menon has taken up the role of a politician and has Kalaiyarasan, Teejay Arunasalam and Redin Kingsley in supporting roles. The film also has music composed by the famous A.R. Rahman.

The Post theatrical streaming rights of Pathu Thala was acquired by Prime Video and satellite rights were bagged by ZEE Tamil. One of the leading OTT streaming platforms globally, Prime Video, has released a new update about the film. They have announced that the film will be released on the 27th of April in OTT. Fans and movie buffs who couldn’t watch the film in theatres can enjoy watching the action thriller on the platform. Prime Video has made the announcement with a new poster and said “a thrilling action treat with a captivating storyline that’s certain to leave an impact long after the story ends.” As they had said that the film will be released in Tamil on April 27, fans have raised questions asking when the film will be released in other languages. The video of two songs has been released by the makers on YouTube already and the film is surely get a good welcome on OTT platform too.
