Ace Tamil filmmaker Shankar celebrated his 60th birthday on Thursday, August 17, with wishes pouring in from all quarters. The blockbuster director, who is currently shuffling between his two big upcoming projects, Indian 2 with Kamal Haasan and Ram Charan's Game Changer, held a special birthday bash in Chennai, which saw him being joined by several leading names in Tamil and Telugu cinema, with pictures shared by filmmaker-actor S J Suryah and music director Thaman. S taking social media by storm. Among those who attended Shankar's birthday celebrations were popular Tamil cinema names starting with Lingusamy, Vignesh Shivan, Karthik Subbaraj,  Gautham Menon, Vetri Maaran, Sasi, Lokesh Kanagaraj, and 'Chiyaan' Vikram, while RRR star Ram Charan and Telugu filmmaker Gopichand Malineni also graced the evening. 

The photos posted showing Shankar's birthday celebrations have received a huge response on social media, with many extending their wishes. With the pictures going viral, fans have been talking about 'Chiyaan' Vikram sporting a completely new look once again. The National Award-winning Tamil actor was seen looking buff and was spotted sporting a crew-cut hairstyle. This latest look is a complete turnaround from Vikram's appearance in his upcoming film, Thangalaan, under Pa. Ranjith's direction, which wrapped up filming recently and is eyeing an early 2024 theatrical release. 

Director Shankar, on the other hand, has been shuttling his time between the sets of Kamal Haasan's Indian 2 and Ram Charan's Game Changer for more than a year now, with both films being planned to be releasing in 2024. While Indian 2 is his second-time association with Kamal Haasan after their Indian (1996) and has since garnered the status of a cult classic, Game Changer marks the hit director's filmmaking debut in Telugu, with the film also announced to be coming out in Tamil.
