Leading Tamil actor Karthi's Sardar is set to take a big opening as a grand Diwali release and will begin rolling out in cinemas on October 21. Directed by Irumbi Thirai and Hero fame P. S. Mithran, the upcoming film is described to be a high-octane spy thriller and will see the star appearing in dual roles once again nearly after a decade in the 2011 blockbuster Siruthai. Produced by S. Lakshman Kumar's Prince Pictures banner and featuring music by National Award-winning composer G. V. Prakash Kumar, a new never-before-seen making video from Sardar featuring Karthi and popular child artiste Rithvik from the film’s shooting spot has now been released by director P. S. Mithran on social media.

In the video, we see Karthi in makeup as an elderly man, one of the characters in Sardar, with Rithvik on his lap, who is holding the steering wheel of a lorry, while humming the iconic theme music from Kaithi. Although Rithvik hums the iconic tune, Karthi encourages him to sing louder before telling him that they need to get back to shooting their portions, which leaves everyone in the crew in splits. The elderly character in Sardar is named Chandrabose, while Rithvik is the son of Mangai played by Laila, a CBI Intelligence officer and the sister of Inspector Vijaya Prakash, also being essayed by Karthi. The story of Sardar will be spanning over a period of nearly four decades to the present time and will feature explosive action as was witnessed in the film's trailer released a few days back. The film releasing in Tamil Nadu by Udhayanidhi Stalin's Red Giant Movies and by Akkineni Nagarjuna's Annapurna Studios banner in Telugu has Thiruchitrambalam actress Raashii Khanna and Karnan heroine Rajisha Vijayan playing the female leads, followed by Bollywood actor Chunky Pandey making his Tamil cinema debut, while Laila, Rithvik, Munishkanth, Ilavarasu, Yugi Sethu among others will be appearing in pivotal roles. Karthi will be looking to wrap 2022 on a bang with Sardar, which is his third film in three months after Viruman and Ponniyin Selvan: 1 released in August and September have become massive box office blockbusters.
