Anurag Kashyap has confirmed for the first time that he has been cast in 'Thalapathy' Vijay's Leo under Lokesh Kanagaraj's direction. The acclaimed filmmaker-actor revealed being part of the Tamil biggie by sharing a post of a fan on his Instagram Story on Tuesday evening, July 4, after speculations began doing the rounds on social media about his casting. Leo marks Anurag Kashyap's third outing in Tamil cinema after he played the villain in Nayanthara's Imaikkaa Nodigal (2018), while being announced sometime back to be a part of the upcoming Sundar. C-starrer One 2 One under Paramapadham Vilayattu fame K. Thirugnanam's direction.

Having garnered a massive fan following over the years among Tamil cinema audiences with his films in Hindi, Anurag Kashyap's casting is the next big Bollywood addition in Vijay's Leo after Sanjay Dutt was announced to be playing the antagonist. Production on the Lokesh Kanagaraj directorial is nearing its finish line and this latest casting has once again elevated the excitement for the film, which is scheduled for an October 19 worldwide theatrical release. Anurag Kashyap has often spoken in high regard about South Indian cinema, filmmakers, and artistes, including Lokesh Kanagaraj in the past, and his inclusion in Vijay's Leo has once again created massive curiosity. Anurag Kashyap impressed Tamil cinema fans with his menacing performance as a psychopath serial killer in Imaikkaa Nodigal and there are high expectations already for him to come up with something similar once again in Leo. Being produced by S. S. Lalit Kumar's 7 Screen Studio banner, the Vijay-starrer also has Trisha playing the female lead, with 'Action King' Arjun, Mysskin, Gautham Menon, Mansoor Ali Khan, Priya Anand, Sandy master, Mathew Thomas among others in key roles and music being composed by 'Rockstar' Anirudh Ravichander.
