Cochin Haneefa remembered
"The Malayalam film industry has not been able to compensate the loss of actor Cochin Haneefa, who left a deep impression in the minds of the audience through his roles on screen," noted Malayalam director Sibi Malayil said during his inaugural address at the memorial meet on Cochin Haneefa organised by the Cochin Powravali in Kochi on Saturday.
Sibi Malayil said Cochin Haneefa was an exceptional human being and an excellent actor. Stating that he was lucky to have given Cochin Haneefa the role of ‘Hydrose' in Kireedom, Sibi Malayil said the actor got a fresh lease of life in his career through this role.
Cochin Haneefa was able to portray several roles that still remain in the hearts of the audience, he said. Stating that Cochin Haneefa was a good friend, Sibi Malayil said the actor was also able to retain his friendships throughout his life. Speaking on the occasion, K. Babu, MLA, wondered whether the industry was able to tap the real potential of the actor in Cochin Haneefa, who passed away in February last year.
