Oscar winning musician A.R. Rahman has been announced as the 'Thamizhan of the Year' in an award function organised by a popular Tamil news channel. Veteran filmmaker K. Balachander present the award to the music maestro recently. Apart from the musical genius, Jayakanthan, V. Shanta, Venu Srinivasan, M.S. Swaminathan and chess maestro Viswanathan Anand were also honoured with different awards.
