Leading Tamil actor Vishal's next film, Rathnam, directed by Hari is scheduled to open in cinemas worldwide on April 26. With promotions for the film underway, the Mark Antony (2023) star spoke about his conflict with Udhayanidhi Stalin's Red Giant Movies during an exclusive interview with Galatta. Vishal opened up on the problems with the production banner saying, "There was an issue with the release of Enemy during Diwali. I don't know whether Udhaya (Udhayanidhi Stalin) is aware about this or not. That can be discussed later. Meanwhile, I'll talk about what happened because this is something everyone knows. Yes, I had a major altercation with one particular person at Red Giant." He added, "Nobody has the authority to push away the release of a film. Nobody owns cinema. Nothing good has come for any person who claims cinema is in their hands. I didn't do this for me, but for my producer because he has paid interest. He's not a producer who will sit in an AC room and order other films to not be released. When we bring out our film, you tell us to postpone its release. We shed our blood and sweat, and you're sitting inside an AC room telling us to release the film later. Who gave you that authority? Have you leased the whole industry?' This is what I asked a certain individual. I'm the one who introduced this individual to Udhaya in 2006 after Sandakozhi."

Vishal then claimed a similar incident happened once again during the release of Mark Antony. He said, "It wasn't acceptable to me what he was doing because my producer had spent 65 crores for Mark Antony. He had decided one and a half months back at the time that it should come out for Vinayagar Chathurthi on September 15. At this juncture, when he was told to not to release the film and postpone it, I got upset." He continued, "You asked me earlier whether I would get angry at the things happening in our society. I called him over the phone and said, 'Nobody has the right to tell my producer to release his film on another date. Who are you to say that? He's gotten a loan to make this film. He knows when to release the film. You release your film and I'll come out with mine. Let the people decide which film to watch. Is there any rule stating that only you should release the film and make money? You want us to keep looking at you earning sitting in an AC room and expect us to stand out under the hot sun?' I can't accept that. I then went ahead and released the film, and it became a success. The producer was benefited from it, Adhik got a good future, and I had a good victory. Had I kept quiet, the film would not have released."

Vishal then declared that the same issues will crop up once again for Rathnam. He said, "There will be problems for Rathnam too. There will definitely be a conflict. Nobody has the guts to say this and this is the problem in this cinema industry. If all the producers gather the courage and unite, cinema will be on a different path. I always draw a line between business and cinema. Business is my toil. Nobody can take my hard work for granted. I cannot keep quiet for my producer. My producers must do well. Only if my producer comes good, he will be able to make films with actors like me."

Leading Tamil actor Vishal is set to appear next on the big screen in Rathnam releasing in theatres worldwide on April 26 as a grand summer treat. The upcoming film is the third collaboration for the Mark Antony (2023) star with blockbuster filmmaker Hari after their box office hits Thamirabharani (2007) and Poojai (2014), and has created a tremendous buzz among audiences, with hopes for the duo to make it a hat-trick next. With promotions for Rathnam underway ahead of its release in the days ahead, Vishal sat down for an exclusive interview with Galatta to talk about the film, while also addressing the trolling he's faced in recent times over how he offers his prayers.

Addressing the topic about the manner in which he prays, Vishal said, "It's not about enjoyment. I'm making them do the same. Have they prayed to Allah or Jesus? I'm making them do that. Everyone will think I'm pulling a stunt. I don't need to stoop that low to use caste or religion. We're not so cheap." He added, "I was once doing workout in a ground near a restaurant like this. On my way back after the workout, I saw a girl imitating doing the same. I told her that it's good and gestured her to the top, and left the place. You should not get angry for that. They take it in a different perspective. At the end of the day, what I feel is, I make them do at least that. Otherwise, when have they done that? Praying to Allah or Jesus. You should accept it as it is." Vishal was trolled first before having his food on the sets of Rathnam on the occasion of MGR's birth anniversary where he followed his own style of worshipping three religious gods.

Rathnam has Vishal paired with Priya Bhavani Shankar, while Samuthirakani, Gautham Vasudev Menon, Yogi Babu, Murali Sharma, Hareesh Peradi, Muthu Kumar, among others are cast in key roles. The action film also marks the big Tamil cinema comeback for composer Devi Sri Prasad, who won the National Award for Best Music Direction for his work in Telugu superstar Allu Arjun's Pushpa: The Rise (2021).

He's Rajini sir's best friend and is the reason why he named his daughter after him. At the film's press meet recently, I said something despite many people telling me not to. When Aishwarya Rajinikanth spoke to Rajini sir about casting me in Lal Salaam, he was happy. But, he called up Aaryan's mother Rajini and told her about Aishwarya's interest in casting me and asked for her and her father's opinion. Rajini (Natraj) then told him that we are on speaking terms and that Aaryan is extremely happy. She said, 'There are no problems and you all can do the film. This is a happy news.' After that, Rajini sir spoke to Aishwarya and I boarded the film."

Vishnu Vishal further explained, "There was no real need for him (Rajinikanth) to do that. He didn't do that to seek her permission. His intention was to not leave anybody hurt and it is because of that attitude and heart why he is called 'Superstar'. Actually, I felt proud and happy that such a big star holds his friendship at a high place in his heart and I took it as an example to not hurt anybody in the future under any such circumstances. I got the understanding of calling the person if I were to ever face such a situation. All is good now and she's excited to watch the film."

Tamil actor Vishnu Vishal's next film, Lal Salaam, will see him sharing screen space with 'Superstar' Rajinikanth starting February 9. The upcoming sports drama film is Aishwarya Rajinikanth's big filmmaking comeback and features music composed by Academy Award winner A. R. Rahman. Vishnu Vishal, who is playing an aspiring cricketer alongside Vikranth in Lal Salaam, has now in an exclusive interview with Galatta opened up on collaborating with actor Soori once again after their fallout a few years back.

Soori, who worked with Vishnu Vishal in seven films, filed a case against the Lal Salaam actor's father Ramesh Kudwala (former DGP of Tamil Nadu), and financier Anbuvel Rajan, alleging that they had cheated him on a land deal. Vishnu Vishal, who addressed fans at the time to wait for the truth via a note on social media, has now in an exclusive interview with Galatta during the promotions for Lal Salaam revealed for the first time that he and Soori are back on speaking terms once again.

Responding to whether he will act alongside Soori once again, Vishnu Vishal said, "I'll share a news soon. You'll know about it then. The answers to all those problems and what had happened will be known soon. I'll definitely act with him as a professional. I'm speaking with him now. I'll show it to you on my phone. Me and Soori have started speaking again. Things are all okay. And, we'll tell everything that had happened. I'm informing this here for the first time here."

Vishnu Vishal further stated, "There were several problems during those 2-3 years. You hear about many things going wrong at the same time, right? Be it my past marriage or the issue with Soori, all those incidents happened during those 3-4 years. Everything is sorted out now, and I'm very happy and lucky. It's why I'm sitting here with so much positivity because my confidence is that there isn't a person who hasn't committed any mistakes. I too might have done wrong, but not on the levels as claimed and, there's that anger in me. But, since all that is set right, that outrage has come down. So, everything has been sorted out and everything is positive."
