Arun Kumar hit it out of the park last year with Chithaa after impressing audiences with his work in the past in films Pannaiyarum Padminiyum (2014) and Sethupathi (2016).

It was an evening of grand celebrations on November 30 as the biggest names in cinema and entertainment graced the Galatta Wonder Women Awards 2023 held at the Jawaharlal Nehru Indoor Stadium in Chennai. Among the leading names under the spotlight was leading South Indian actress Krithi Shetty, who was awarded the 'Youth Icon of South Indian Cinema' award by Priya Atlee. Expressing her happiness after winning the big accolade at the Galatta Wonder Women Awards 2023, the popular Telugu star said, "First of all, greetings to everyone, and thank you so much. You all have welcomed me in such a sweet and warm manner. It's really nice to be here. I feel so happy. And, this award is really special because this is the 'Youth Icon of South Indian Cinema' award. I've always really wanted to impact people's lives positively and I've been able to connect with the youth. So, it's really special to me, and thank you so much Galatta. Thank you so much Priya ma'am for presenting this award."

A trending meme was also shown to Krithi Shetty during the proceedings at the Galatta Wonder Women Awards 2023 which had her paired with Tamil superstar 'Thalapathy' Vijay. Reacting to the meme, the Uppena actress said, "I think I started this manifestation. I'm the original one who started this manifestation. To be honest, I think I saw it one day on Twitter and I was like, 'How did this come up?' Because it was beautiful when it came up. I was just thinking about it then. So, I started this, I think. But, it'll be beautiful and the most special thing if it happens."

And, the other event was to support kids who are battling cancer. So, in the second event, I heard about the struggles that the little kids are facing to fight cancer. At that time, when I was thinking about the people who were throwing their lives away and doing drugs, I felt so bad. Because, in this world, there are people who give respect and importance to their lives, which should inspire all of us. They are facing huge struggles. We should be happy to exist and impact other people's lives with positivity and be kind to everyone."

'Thangalaan': Producer K. E. Gnanavel Raja talks plan to send the 'Chiyaan' Vikram film to the Oscars and film festivals, opens up on Pa. Ranjith being surprised (EXCLUSIVE)

National Award-winning Tamil actor 'Chiyaan' Vikram's Thangalaan directed by acclaimed filmmaker Pa. Ranjith is gearing up for a huge worldwide theatrical release starting January 26, 2024. The highly-anticipated period action film set during the pre-Independence era amidst the Kolar Gold Fields (KGF) backdrop also stars Malayalam actress Parvathy Thiruvothu, Master heroine Malavika Mohanan, Pasupathy, among others in key roles, including English actor Daniel Caltagirone playing the antagonist, with music composed by National Award winner G. V. Prakash Kumar. With post-production works currently underway on Thangalaan ahead of its release early next year, producer K. E. Gnanavel Raja sat down with Galatta to talk about the plan to send the ambitious film to the Oscars and film festivals, while also explaining Vikram's massive efforts for his role and performance.

Speaking about Thangalaan and his belief in director Pa. Ranjith, including Vikram's performance, Gnanavel Raja said, "I don't know the stories of any of my films. I'm going forward with my belief in the director. The one thing I know is that it's a period film. So, the first big surprise for me is Vikram sir's hard work and toil because it takes a lot of guts to wear that costume as he has to transform for his role. Ranjith sir had given photos for references to showcase the lifestyle and the attire that the people in those days used to wear. But, beyond that, he did thorough homework and tried different styles, which was a surprise even for Ranjith sir, and this shows that he has such big dedication and sincerity [for his role]. I feel that he has invested his effort in the right film. He's known for walking the extra mile for all his films, but I feel has invested his hard work in the right proportion this time and this film will definitely be a big milestone in his career."

Producer K. E. Gnanavel Raja further spoke about the plan to put Thangalaan in contention for the Oscars and said, "We will be sending the film to all the film festivals. Vikram sir will be busy in all the film festivals next year because I believe all the awards will come his way. Be it Ranjith, all the craft, the music, camera work, and the other artistes, Parvathy, and the other heroine (Malavika Mohanan), Pasupathy sir, the stunt and the art departments, all of them worked hard and in a unique and beautiful manner."

'Dhruva Natchathiram': Gautham Menon explains the big differences in the 'Chiyaan' Vikram film after he first narrated the story to Suriya and 'Superstar' Rajinikanth (EXCLUSIVE)

Blockbuster Tamil filmmaker Gautham Vasudev Menon's Dhruva Natchathiram starring National Award-winning Tamil actor 'Chiyaan' Vikram with music composed by Harris Jayaraj is gearing up for a grand worldwide theatrical release on November 24 and the excitement for the highly-anticipated film is as big as it gets. The espionage thriller includes an ensemble star cast featuring the likes of Ritu Varma as the female lead, with Radhakrishnan Parthiban, R Radikaa Sarathkumar, Simran, Divya Dharshini, Munna Simon, Vamsi Krishna, Salim Baig, Sathish Krishnan, and Maya S Krishnan appearing in key roles. With Vikram's Dhruva Natchathiram continuing to be the talk of the town despite several release delays over the years, Gautham Menon sat down with Galatta recently to share his journey, while also opening up about the differences in the versions of the story he had initially narrated to Suriya and 'Superstar' Rajinikanth.

Explaining his initial approach to the Dhruva Natchathiram, Gautham Menon said, "I'm happy that stories like these are still relevant today. It's the same script and no changes have been made. When I narrated the story to Suriya first, there was an emotional flashback. It would revolve around the character's younger version, an eighteen or twenty-year-old, the protagonist's past, and where he's coming from. If he didn't carry his baggage, he wouldn't have joined this team. The senior person who sets up this team, what he says is, 'I need people with regrets. Some people like me and many who are living with regrets, I think they are the ones who should come into this team. They only will be able to take this journey forward.' So, there was a flashback for that, but we didn't shoot that in this film. I've left a loose end and if this film does well, I'll show that flashback in the next; this character's backstory. Otherwise, what I wanted to shoot, I've shot."

Gautham Menon then spoke about his narration of the Dhruva Natchathiram story to 'Superstar' Rajinikanth. He said, "I don't know whether you know about this, but I told this story to Suriya first and it didn't work out. We had a good, healthy discussion, but it didn't work out. I then narrated this story to Rajini sir. So, when it went from Suriya to Rajini sir, I met him after making changes for him such as the emotional flashback was not there, obviously. There were no love portions. Ritu would not have been there in this film actually. But, when I came back to Vikram, I decided to show a relationship between a man in his forties and a girl - a love, a romance, a friendship, you can call it whatever, I felt that should be there, and that's how she came into the film."

In what came as a major surprise for Tamil cinema audiences on Tuesday evening, November 7, 'Thalapathy' Vijay's manager Jagadish posted photos of the actor with 'Ulaganayagan' Kamal Haasan presumably clicked during the dubbing of Leo sometime back. The first picture, which also includes filmmaker Lokesh Kanagaraj and producer Lalit Kumar, has since taken social media by storm and once again created new excitement in regard to the Lokesh Cinematic Universe (LCU). Shared as a tribute to Kamal Haasan on the occasion of his birthday yesterday, Jagadish wrote on X, "I have always known you as a Legend as far as my memory goes back. I was fortunate to spend time with you and was immensely surprised to see how down to earth you approach each and every aspect. The evening didn't come to an end with the group photo as Jagadish dropped yet another surprise after a fan requested him to post similar photos. Vijay's manager then went to share a picture of the actor and Kamal Haasan posing together and smiling, which has since received a phenomenal response. Ever since the special photo moment with Kamal Haasan and Vijay dropped yesterday evening, fans have been discussing the future of the LCU and what plans Lokesh Kanagaraj must be having to carry forward his overarching story.

Kamal Haasan made a voice-only cameo reprising his role as Vikram from Vikram (2022) in 'Thalapathy' Vijay's Leo released in October, which has since turned out to be a raging box office money-spinner minting more than 500 crores worldwide gross collections, with the film still going strong in theatres. With Leo established to be a part of the LCU, fans are now looking forward to Lokesh Kanagaraj completing his Thalaivar 171 with 'Superstar' Rajinikanth, and then kick-starting his Kaithi 2 with Karthi, a standalone film on Suriya's character Rolex from Kaithi (2019), including the possibility of a reunion with Vijay for Leo 2, with Vikram 2 ending the all-encompassing story.
