Sought-after director of the Tamil industry, Vetrimaaran, met with politician and leader of Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi, Thol.Thirumavalavan on Tuesday. The leader shared candid pictures from the meeting on twitter that went viral. The pictures show both of them enjoying a snack and as Vetrimaaran looks to be explaining something to the leader and smiling happily. The VCK leader said about the meeting on Twitter that “Iyakunar Thozhar Vetrimaaran at Ambedkar Thidal”. Ambedkar Thidal in Chennai is the headquarters of Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi. On the same day, the leader had also met the actor turned politician Gayathri Raghuram and held a conversation.

Vetrimaaran is known for making critically acclaimed films that also deliver huge box office collections. The busy director has many projects in the pipeline. Asuran was his last theatrical release and he also directed one of the four part's in Netflix anthology Paava Kadhaigal. His upcoming project, Viduthalai, has become of the most anticipated movies of the year and is set to be released in two parts with first installment to be released on 31st March. Soori plays the lead in the film that has Vijay Sethupathi in a important role. The first single from the film, sung by Dhanush and composed by maestro Ilayaraja, was released recently and has become a chartbuster.
Director Vetrimaaran’s next is with iconic actor Suriya and is named Vaadivasal as its set around the Jallikattu sport that’s prominent in TN. A test shoot for the film was held last year and the shooting is expected to begin soon. Recently, It’s been speculated on social media that the talented writer/director might team up with telugu actor Junior NTR, who was a part of the blockbuster RRR movie, next. He also became the showrunner of the Jallikattu based series Pettaikaali that was directed by his former assistant director. The director is also writing another web series called Nilamellam Ratham, for ZEE5, which was announced last year.

Director Vetrimaaran and Dhanush tasted massive success with their latest film, Asuran, which came out in theatres worldwide this October. The period action drama is the fourth occasion the duo teamed up after joining hands in 2007 for the blockbuster, Pollathavan, and followed it up with Aadukalam in 2011 and then teamed up last year once again for Vada Chennai, which as well went on to become a smash success.
Both Vetrimaaran and Dhanush had won National Awards for Best Direction and Best Actor in 2011 for their film, Aadukalam, and are now basking in the glory of their Asuran, produced by Kalaipuli S. Thanu’s V Creations, which has chart-buster music by G. V. Prakash Kumar. Promotions for the film are being carried out at a consistent pace even now by the makers, who have released the much-awaited ‘Yen Minukki’ video song featured on Dhanush, Manju Warrier, Pasupathi, Teejay and Ken Karunas.
‘Yen Minukki’ sung by Teejay Arunasalam and Chinmayi has gone on to become a huge hit with many declaring it as one of the best Tamil songs of 2019. Asuran is an adaptation of the acclaimed Tamil writer, Poomani’s Vekkai novel, and also includes Balaji Sakthivel, Ammu Abhirami, Prakash Raj, Pawan, A. Venkatesh among others in supporting roles.

National Award winners director Vetrimaaran and Dhanush have churned one blockbuster after the other right from the time they began collaborating more than a decade back in 2007 with their Pollathavan. Their recent film together, Asuran, released in October, went on to become the biggest blockbuster for the duo in their careers among their previous associations which also include Aadukalam in 2011 and last year’s smash hit, Vada Chennai. With Asuran going on to garner both commercial and critical success, producer Kalaipuli S. Thanu has been extensively promoting the film under his V Creations banner. Featuring chart-busters by composer turned actor G. V. Prakash Kumar, the makers have now released the male version of the ‘Kannazhagu Rathiname’ video song featured on Dhanush, who has also sung it to the lyrics penned by Yugabharathi.
Asuran is still continuing its theatrical run in many parts across Tamil Nadu despite being released on the over-the-top (OTT) streaming platforms and has gone on to make over 100 crores in global box office collections till date. National Award winners Vetrimaaran and Dhanush went on to taste massive success yet again in their fourth outing, Asuran, after their previous hit collaborations namely Pollathavan, Aadukalam and Vada Chennai. The period action drama received stunning reviews from all corners and is still continuing its theatrical run despite being released on the over-the-top (OTT) platforms. Produced by Kalaipuli S. Thanu’s V Creations banner, Asuran is an adaptation of the acclaimed Tamil writer, Poomani’s Vekkai novel. With the makers leaving no stone unturned in terms of promotions for the film, a new spotlight video is now out which shows the execution behind the fight scene that takes place during the flashback sequence. We see Vetrimaaran coordinating with the film’s crew and Dhanush acting to his full potential in the crucial scene, which reveals his past in the story to his son played by Ken Karunas.
Apart from Vetrimaaran’s direction and intense screenplay and Dhanush’s portrayal of his character, Asuran stands out with its star cast’s performances among whom Malayalam actress Manju Warrier, and Teejay Arunasalam leave a lasting impression followed by Balaji Sakthivel, Pasupathi, Ammu Abhirami, Prakash Raj, Pawan, A. A highly anticipated film ever since it was announced, Asuran, marks National Award winners director Vetrimaaran and Dhanush collaborating for the fourth time after their previous hits Pollathavan, Aadukalam and last year’s Vada Chennai. Announced to hit screens on October 4 in light of the Ayudha Pooja holidays, Kalaipuli S. Thanu has produced Asuran under his V Creations banner with music by G V Prakash Kumar with the team taking part in the audio launch. The film's audio launch took place today as Dhanush is leaving for London to kickstart work on his next film, tentatively titled D40, under Karthick Subbaraj’s direction. Two single tracks from Asuran among which the much-awaited ‘Kathari Poovazhagi’ track sung by Velmurugan, Rajalakshmi and Napolia with lyrics penned by Ekadesi has now been released.
An adaptation of the novel, Vekkai, written by Poomani, Asuran, is billed to be an intense action drama with Dhanush in dual roles for the second time in his career after the 2017 smash hit, Kodi. The film has created a lot of curiosity among fans, especially with the two character looks, which have been given a double thumbs up by all. There are plenty of notable names in the film apart from Dhanush among whom include popular Malayalam actress Manju Warrier making her acting debut in Tamil cinema with director Balaji Sakthivel appearing as a policeman while Pasupathi, actor Karunas’ son Ken Karunas and Ratsasan fame Ammu Abhirami will be seen in supporting roles.

CONTROVERSY: Vetrimaaran and top directors file complaint!

National Award-winning filmmaker Vetrimaran, known for his highly successful films namely Polladhavan, Aadukalam, Visaranai and Vada Chennai is currently busy filming on the upcoming, Asuran, starring Dhanush and Manju Warrier in the lead roles.
Likewise, Gopi Nainar, who made a stellar debut in 2017 with the smash hit political drama film, Aramm, starring Nayanthara is at present set to soon begin Karuppar Nagaram with Jai, Aishwarya Rajesh and Mahima Nambiar in the lead roles.
In the meantime, Vetrimaaran, Gopi Nainar and another 100 filmmakers from across the country have now come together to stand against Prime Minister Narendra Modi. This campaign is being carried out on a website named www.artistuniteindia.com on which about 103 directors have registered their stance now.
The reason these filmmakers are now coming together for this particular campaign is to bring to light the inefficient policies that were Narendra Modi that have affected the people of India. They further added the current government uses saffron politics with religion as their tool to win votes while also stating such unethical governments shouldn’t come to power again. Post the tremendous success of actor Dhanush's recent release titled Vada Chennai directed by ace filmmaker Vetrimaaran, the duo is all set to make yet another interesting film. It was earlier officially announced that the two will be joining hands for the 4th time for their next film together titled Asuran. The two have been extremely promising with their unique content and neat narration which has majorly struck a chord with the audience. Ever since this announcement was made official, the fans have been eagerly waiting to hear an update from the team.
Now here is a massive one made by actor Dhanush himself. We were the first ones to announce that the project is scheduled to kickstart on the 26th of January. Now the actor has made it official on his Twitter handle that the project is all set to start rolling from the 26th of January and he has expressed his joy over collaborating with directed Vetrimaaran once again. The film has tunes composed by music director G.V Prakash and actor Dhanush is joining hands with GV after a long gap of 8 years. The two have delivered big hits together starting from Polladhavan to Selvaraghavan's Mayakkam Enna. EXCLUSIVE: Vetrimaaran Explains How VadaChennai Was Formed!

National Award-winning director Vetrimaaran recently in an exclusive interview opened up in detail about his upcoming Vada Chennai starring Dhanush saying the film is directed towards the life of people living in North Madras and his relation and love for the area and locality, which eventually gave him the idea to develop a script.
During the interaction, Vetrimaaran further added that the city has given him everything in life and he believes that the people of Chennai share a special bond with him and says Vada Chennai is a reflection into his life in the city and the film will be a connection of his life in North Madras.
The ace director believes the gangster action drama is Dhanush’s best performance till date and will be a film that gets rid of all the misconceptions people generally have about North Madras.
Hitting screens on October 17, VadaChennai produced by Wunderbar Films in association with Lyca Productions and music by Santhosh Narayanan includes Aishwarya Rajesh and Andrea Jeremiah as the female leads alongside Ameer, Samuthirakani, Daniel Balaji, Kishore, Pavan among others in supporting roles.

After Visaaranai, which is an onscreen adaption of the popular novel Lock Up, looks like award-winning director Vetrimaaran is planning to adapt another high intense novel on screen. Going by the reports, the director has acquired the rights of 'Vaadivaasal,' a book by popular writer CS Chellapa that gives an in-depth insight of the age-old Jallikattu sport in Tamil Nadu.
