Viduthalai Part: 1 is a film that is running successfully in theatres and is directed by Vetri Maaran. The film has famous actor Soori playing the lead and also has Vijay Sethupathi in iconic role. Bhavai Sre plays the female lead and this is the third film of the actress after Ka Pae Ranasingam and Paava Kadhaigal. It also has Chetan, Gautham Vasudev Menon, Rajiv Menon, Ilavarasu, Munnar Ramesh and Saravana Subbiah in supporting roles. The film, with Music composed by maestro Ilayaraja, was released in theatres on March 31. The opening sequence of Viduthalai that is shown in a single shot was a talked about sequence from the film and received huge praise from movie-goers.

R Velraj is the cinematographer of Viduthalai Part: 1 and is a close associate of Vetri Maaran. The cinematographer revealed some insights about filming the sequence, he said “First day, Vetri Sir came (to set), We thought there would be a rehearsal, (In the scene) After the car takes off there will be women and crying with a dead body, only till that the first-day rehearsal happened. Similarly, we moved ahead slowly day by day. On the sixth day only, I think, we completed it. They bought two coaches and the others were all made by the art department. After that tilting and positioning the coaches took three days. For that, we brought the crane and positioned it. In the film, There was also a train accident scene but it was not required, so(it was edited)."

Speaking about Vijay Sethupathi's character Vaathiyar. Cinematographer R. Velraj said “We shot the police station scenes in Chennai, so, for an emotional scene, even artists nobody in set ate. The whole set was in pin-drop silence. No one made a comedy or were distracted like that Vijay Sethupathi sir was also there.", said technician about the police station scene in Viduthalai Part: 1. He then shared about his team saying they started with a 13-member team but in the end, there were only four members because there were struggles during filming.

Viduthalai Part: 1 was recently released and is running successfully in theatres. The movie is directed by the National Award-winning director Vetri Maaran with Soori as the lead and Vijay Sethupathi in an important role. The film has received positive feedback from the movie goers and critics. The film has music composed by Maestro Ilayaraj and has Gautham Vasudev Menon, Rajiv Menon, Bhavani Sre, Chetan, Ilavarasu, Munnar Ramesh and Saravana Subbiah in supporting roles. 

Following the release of Viduthalai Part: 1, the cinematographer of the film and a close associate of Vetri Maaran, from his debut film Polladavan, gave an exclusive interview to Galatta Media. The talented technician shared some interesting details about the upcoming projects of Vetri Maaran. As the anchor asked about Viduthalai Part: 2 and the next line-up of Vetri Maaran. The cinematographer R. Velraj said “The director should reveal it, but it's ok. As far as I knew, there are 10 more days of shooting for Part: 2 (Viduthalai Part: 2). Most probably sir will shoot it by the end of this month or in May beginning. The film will be released within four months definitely, after that Vaadivaasal. It will be got on for about four to six months. Then again with Dhanush Sir." As the anchor said Vada Chennai: Anbuvin Ezhuchi. The director just laughed and passed on the question. This neither confirms nor denies that the next film with Dhanush will be Vada Chennai 2

When asked about Vaadivaasal, Velraj said "many films have come out about Jallikattu. But, with Vetri Maaran sir, we cannot say this is already been done, because he will have a different shot. Doing something that nobody else has done and saying something that has not been discussed before is his perspective. So surely, it will be a mass film there is no doubt about it. I know almost the whole story and the idea of the project. So, then we will know how it will come out. I am waiting just like you." Watch full interview here:

Asuran and Vada Chennai Cinematographer Velraj joins ISC - wishes pour in!

Ace cinematographer Velraj is known for his works in films like Polladhavan, Aadukalam, Engeyum Eppodhum, 3, Ethir Neechal, Velai Illa Pattathaari, Power Paandi, Kadaikutty Singam, Vada Chennai, and the recent blockbuster Asuran. He is considered to be one of the most renowned technicians in Tamil cinema. Recognizing his distinguished works, Velraj has now been officially approved as one of the members of Indian Society of Cinematographers (ISC), a highly reputed association for cinematographers. The members, who are part of this society will have the suffix of ISC in their names in film credits.

Having said that, we can expect Velraj to be credited as Velraj ISC in his upcoming movies. Talking about ISC, this association was founded in 1995 and its membership is given to cinematographers based on their distinguished filmography works. Acclaimed Tamil cinematographers like P.C.Sreeram, Santosh Sivan, Ravi K Chandran and K.V.Anand are already a part of ISC and now, Velraj is the latest addition from Tamil cinema.

Apart from Velraj, acclaimed cinematographer Chezhiyan (Thenmerku Paruvakaatru, Paradesi, Tolet fame) has also been added to the ISC association. Popular cinematographer Velraj proved himself as a director after helming Velai Illa Pattathari. This commercial entertainer starred Dhanush, Amala Paul and debutant Amitash Pradhan in significant roles. The film did great business at the box office.

The latest update is that director and the actor are all set to join hands yet again for a film. Rumours state that the duo would start shooting for the film from December. We hear that Anandhi of Kayal fame will be playing the heroine.

If all goes well, we can watch the Velai Illa Pattadhari combo back again. Let us wait for an official confirmation.
