Tamil actor Mansoor Ali Khan tendered an apology to his Leo co-star Trisha Krishnan on Friday, November 24, after he came under fire for his derogatory comments that created a huge controversy. In a detailed statement released by the actor's PRO, he said, "I extend my gratitude to all the leaders, actors, and journalists, and my greetings to all those who opposed me. The Kalinga War has come to an end. Emperor Ashoka embraced ahimsa after the blood of lakhs spilled on his heart. Yes, conscience is God. When the police official said that Trisha was sad after the recent events, I said, 'I too feel the same', and came back. This is the reality."

Mansoor Ali Khan further stated, "I lost my youth completely in the film industry. Even when my appearance is big, I have gotten only small roles. I pray to God to give me the strength to work creatively in the days ahead." He concluded his statement with his apology writing, "My co-actress Trisha, forgive me. May God bless the fortune for me to bless your Mangalyam (marital necklace, mangalsutra) as it goes around in the coconut tray in the auspicious marital ritual! Amen." Below is Mansoor Ali Khan's complete statement:

Mansoor Ali Khan appeared before the police at the All Women Police Station at Thousand Lights in Chennai on Thursday after he was summoned over his sexist remarks against Trisha. Known for playing negative roles in Tamil films, the actor recently made derogatory comments about his Leo co-star Trisha during a press meet and expressed his regret for not having a "bedroom scene", while going on to mention his numerous "rape scenes" in the past. Addressing Mansoor Ali Khan's statements, Trisha called him out on X and wrote, "A recent video has come to my notice where Mr.Mansoor Ali Khan has spoken about me in a vile and disgusting manner.I strongly condemn this and find it sexist, disrespectful, misogynistic, repulsive and in bad taste. He can keep wishing but I am grateful never to have shared screen space with someone as pathetic as him and I will make sure it never happens for the rest of my film career as well. People like him bring a bad name to mankind." (sic) Soon after, the Nadigar Sangam (The South Indian Artistes Association) condemned Mansoor Ali Khan's comments, with the National Commission for Women (NCW) also directing the Tamil Nadu police to invoke IPC Section 509 B and other relevant laws against him.

Chinmayi opens up on her initial doubts after dubbing for Trisha in 'Thalapathy' Vijay's Leo: "I didn't know whether my voice would be included..." (EXCLUSIVE)

Singer Chinmayi Sripada has made a comeback as a voice-over artist in Leo directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj. She has dubbed Trisha in the 'Thalapathy Vijay-starrer, with fans on social media sharing positive feedback for her return in the latest mass action entertainer, which also features music composed by Anirudh Ravichander. Chinmayi, who was shadow-banned by the South Indian Cine, Television Artistes and Dubbing Artistes Union (SICTADAU) four years ago, has now in an exclusive interview with Galatta opened up about her dubbing experience in Leo in Tamil, Telugu, and Kannada languages, while also addressing the qualms she initially had about whether her voice will be featured in the film.

Speaking about dubbing for Trisha in Vijay's Leo, Chinmayi explained how she had doubts in the beginning that her voice might be replaced. She said, "I didn't know whether my voice would be included in the film. I was also thinking about the pressure of my voice being told to be replaced. I gave it a lot of thought and discussed it with my husband Rahul. Later on, I put out a post on Twitter that I'm a million times grateful for the opportunity." Chinmayi also opened up on how audiences might have wondered if it was indeed her who dubbed for Trisha. She stated, "I said before that I was very emotional when I faced the mic and also because it's a straight Tamil venture after such a long time and such a big project. As an artiste or a singer, my talents have not been reduced. They're either the same or have gotten better. I'm well aware of my capacity. However, when this kind of thing comes my way, it is a statement and I believe that this is a big step forward for the MeToo movement too because women across India and all over the world have been banished and paid a very heavy price in naming their perpetrators."

Chinmayi continued, "From Salma Hayek to Lady Gaga. Even now, Lady Gaga continues to state that she's afraid to name her perpetrator. [[And, that's] somebody as powerful and rich as Lady Gaga. [Similarly], I have openly warned many people to be careful, but they'll be ignorant and say that they've got nothing to do with anything that's happening around them. But, I'll tell them that it's only for a few days and everything will be known later. Sometimes I feel that it would have been nice had I been warned as I would have avoided everything."

In 2018, Chinmayi’s membership was quashed from the SICTADAU after she voiced her support for women who named actor-politician Radha Ravi, the President of the dubbing union, in the MeToo movement. After challenging the dubbing union's decision, she approached the court and got an interim stay on the ban, but continued to be snubbed by the Tamil film industry. It was around the same time that Chinmayi also raised sexual harassment allegations against Vairamuthu giving an account of how she was asked by the organizer of a program in Switzerland 13 years earlier to "cooperate" with the celebrated lyricist.

We then see her and Miya George investigating accidents happening at a particular zone on NH 44 occurring frequently. The Road trailer then goes on to show how drug cartels from Mexico might have a hand in the killings taking place on the highways and leaves everywhere shocked that such incidents are happening in Madurai. The trailer also reveals Sarpatta Parambarai stars 'Dancing Rose' Shabeer and Santhosh Prathap playing key roles, with MS Bhaskar, Vivek Prasanna, Vela Ramamoorthy, Laxmi Priya and others also a part of the film.

Trisha, who kicked off 2023 on a high note with Ponniyin Selvan: 2, will be looking to keep the momentum going with The Road, which also marks the directorial debut of Arun Vaseegaran and features music composed by Sam C. S. The trailer hints at an interesting watch in theatres up ahead and fans will no doubt be looking to witness plenty of twists and turns in this crime thriller.
