Actor-producer Vishal has been keeping himself with his film commitments as his upcoming lineup includes ventures namely Chakra, Enemy and his directorial debut, Thupparivaalan 2. Among these films, his Chakra is an action thriller and marks the directorial debut of MS Anandan produced under the Vishal Film Factory banner. Chakra, which had been embroiled in controversies a while back, will be hitting theatres worldwide on February 19, with promotions already being carried out in an active manner.

Vishal Film Factory had last week released a new single track from Chakra titled 'Amma Song' sung by Chinmayi Sripada and Prarthana to the music of composer Yuvan Shankar Raja. Post the positive response to Yuvan's latest song, the makers have now released a hard-hitting sneak peek mass scene from Chakra, which has Vishal raising important questions to a youngster who abuses his power on an innocent elderly security guard. Vishal makes the youngster aware of the injustices in the society and informs how the youth is a coward by exercising his anger on another individual instead of raising the voice against those who are committing serious crimes.

Based on the Chakra trailer released sometime back, the story in the film is centered around Vishal, who plays a police officer out on a mission to find out the person who has stolen his father's Ashok Chakra medal. Based on the promotion material released so far, the film will be high on action, with Vishal having proven to be a specialist in the genre over the years. The film has Shraddha Srinath giving company to Vishal also as a police officer, while also playing his romantic interest. The promos had also shown her to be executing some tough stunts in the action scenes. Despite her role being kept under tight wraps, Regina Cassandra is speculated to be the main antagonist.

Apart from Vishal, Shraddha Srinath and Regina Cassandra, Chakra includes Srushti Dange, Robo Shankar, Manobala, K. R. Vijaya among others in major supporting roles, with cinematography by Balasubramaniem, editing by Thiyagu and stunts by Anl Arasu. Watch Vishal's Chakra sneak peek below:

Maara is Madhavan's next outing in Tamil cinema and the film is directed by Dhilip Kumar, who earlier made the independent Tamil film, Kalki (streaming on Netflix). Maara is the official Tamil remake of Dulquer Salmaan - Parvathy starrer Charlie and the film has got good expectations among the fans. Shraddha Srinath will be reprising Parvathy's role as the female lead and Maara marks her second outing with Madhavan after the highly successful Vikram Vedha. The film will be a direct OTT release on Amazon Prime Video and it is scheduled to stream from December 17. The makers are currently busy with the final leg of post production works and the film is expected to be fully completed soon.

A new song from the film has now been released and this is the second single which is called, 'Oru Arai Unathu'. This light hearted fun song is crooned by Yazin Nazir and Sanah Moidutty and the lyrics have been penned by Thamarai. The film's music director Ghibran scores big with this track as it sounds energetic and pumps up your mood as you listen to it. The song has a unique flavour and it supplements the mood and theme of the film. 'Oru Arai Unathu' is a pleasant listen and it has a very positive sounding. Through this video, we get to see a few pictures of Shraddha Srinath and Maddy and it is going to be a treat to witness them together. The lyric video of the song has been released on the official YouTube channel of Think Music who owns the film's audio rights.

Produced by Prateek Chakravorty and Shruti Nallappa under the banner of Pramod Films, this feel-good breezy drama has cinematography by Dinesh Krishnan and Karthik Muthukumar. The other members in the technical team include Bhuvan Srinivasan (editing), Ajayan Chalissery (art direction), Anbariv (stunts), Tapas Nayak (audiography), and others. Apart from Madhavan and Shraddha Srinath, the film also stars Sshivada and veteran actor Moulee in supporting roles. As the film is gearing up to release on Prime Video on December 17, here is the lyric video of the second single, 'Oru Arai Unathu'.

Nerkonda Paarvai actress Shraddha Srinath rants about depiction of middle class homes in cinema

Actress Shraddha Srinath has established herself to be a talented performer over the years in South India with the choice of her roles she has undertaken. Tamil cinema fans remember her most for her power-packed performances in blockbusters like Vikram Vedha alongside Madhavan and Vijay Sethupathi followed by last year's 'Thala' Ajith starrer, Nerkonda Paarvai. The Jersey actress, who earlier this year opened her own restaurant/cafe, Per Sé Chennai, at Phoenix MarketCity in Chennai, has now in a detailed rant on her Instagram story spoken about the depiction of middle class homes in cinema.

Shraddha Srinath's Instagram story reads as follows: "Why does cinema try to make middle class homes look so tasteful? Why does every character in our films have enough money and great aesthetics to make their spaces look so frame worthy? Why are we so afraid to show the middle class in its full authenticity?" She further added, "Why not display brightly coloured stuffed toys in the living room shelf? Some plastic trophies with decades of dust on it. Family photographs with a digitally printed background of a Japanese hanging garden at the back? A Wedding invitation that was too posh to throw away. Outdated furniture. Show me the real stuff buddy. You can't engineer authenticity." The popular actress also clarified in her next story that she was not referring to Malayalam cinema as the makers there get things right every time.

Last seen in the Telugu-language romantic comedy film, Krishna and His Leela, released on Netflix earlier this year, Shraddha's upcoming films in Tamil include Chakra alongside Vishal, which also stars Regina Cassandra and Srusthi Dange, followed by her reunion with her Vikram Vedha co-star, Madhavan, in Maara. She will also be seen in Rishab Shetty's Rudraprayaga, Kichcha Sudeep's Phantom and Godhraa in Kannada. Apart from the above-mentioned films, Shraddha lent a lot of strength by her appearances in films like Kaatru Veliyidai, Ivan Thanthiran, Richie, K- 13 in Tamil, Milan Talkies in Hindi and Jodi in Telugu.

Hastag ‘BoycottNeflix’ was trending on Twitter a couple of days ago, it was because of their recent Telugu film Krishna and his Leela which allegedly hurted the sentiments of the Hindus. The film was released directly on 25 June 2020 on Netflix. Krishna and his Leela talks about a young man who is torn between his past and present girlfriends, a confused bachelor’s indecisiveness spins a web of lies and cheating as he struggles to commit. The male of the film is called Krishna who is seen having sexual encounters with several women and one of them being named Radha. Using names of Hindu deities in a movie with erotic content has irritated a section of people who have now started to protest against Netflix on social media. People claim that it is an insult to their religion and call for censorship in the OTT platform. Krishna and His Leela is directed by Ravikanth Perepu and produced by Suresh Productions, Viacom18 Motion Pictures and Sanjay Reddy. Suresh Productions is a subsidiary of Rama Naidu Studios, founded by Dr. D Ramanaidu. The production house of the company is Ramanaidu Studios which is located at Hyderabad. Suresh Productions, is one of India’s largest film production companies with over 50 years of contribution to national and regional cinema.

Krishna and his Leela features Siddu Jonnalagadda, Shraddha Srinath, Seerat Kapoor and Shalini Vadnikatti in the lead roles. This is Ravikanth Perepu's second film after 2016 mystery-thriller Kshanam. The music was composed by Sricharan Pakala.  Director Ravikanth Perepu made a superb start with his debut directorial ‘Kshanam’ which released 4 years ago. Helmed on a shoe-string budget, the mystery-thriller left an everlasting impression. The film was later remade in other regional languages too and it gave the film’s lead Adhvi Sesh a much-needed break. Now Ravikanth Perepu is back with his second film Krishna And His Leela which was shot at Ladakh. The film stars Kalki fame Siddu Jonnalagadda as Krishna while Shraddha Srinath, Seerat Kapoor and Shalini Vadnikatti play the female leads. Rana Daggubati who happens to be the distributor of ‘Krishna And His Leelai’ has been promoting the film on his social media platforms aggressively. The music is composed by Sricharan Pakala and the cinematography is handled by Shaneil Deo. After direct Netflix release, the film will now premiere on another digital platform called aha which belongs to Allu Arjun’s family. Aha has now released a new trailer for Krishna and his Leela, check it out:

Vishal's Chakra Official Trailer | Shraddha Srinath | Yuvan Shankar Raja

Vishal’s next release would be Chakra which is directed by debutant M.S.Anandan and produced by Vishal Film Factory. This cyber crime thriller will have music scored by Yuvan Shankar Raja, cinematography by Balasubramaniem, and editing by Thiyagu. Regina Cassandra, Srushti Dange, K.R.Vijaya, Robo Shankar, Manobala form the supporting cast. As already announced by the makers, the official trailer of the film has now been released for public viewing. The trailer has been released in 4 different languages and it was released by Mohanlal (Malayalam), Yash (Kannada), Rana Daggubati (Telugu), Karthi and Arya (Tamil) through their official social media handles.

The trailer looks promising and is packed neatly with some gripping moments. Chakra features Shraddha Srinath as the female lead and her combination scenes with Vishal, in the trailer, looks promising. It is indeed good to see her performing some action moves and we are going to see more of it in the film. Chakra’s story will deal with the online e-commerce frauds and scams that take place in the city. From what we see in the trailer, it looks like the antagonist has robbed in a total of 49 houses in the Chennai city, including a Ashoka Chakra medal that belongs to Vishal's father. So, the film will focus on how Vishal traces his opponent and the difficulties he faces during this mission. We guess that Regina Cassandra should be the antagonist as we don't get to see only her in the trailer and a few dialogues are also suggestive of the same.

The cat and mouse game between the protagonist and the antagonist should be the key USP for the film and let us hope that it works in the favour of the movie. The fans have opined that the film has traces of Irumbu Thirai in terms of the content, treatment, and the mood, but we will have to wait for the movie to know about the similarity. Yuvan Shankar Raja scores big with his intriguingly powerful background score in this trailer and his contribution to the film is going to be huge. The visuals are neatly composed.

The team is left with one more week of shoot and it will be completed as soon as the permission is granted by the Tamil Nadu Government. The trailer has been released on the official YouTube channel of Vishal Film Factory. Watch the official trailer of Vishal’s Chakra here:

Arulnithi's K-13 Movie Review | Shraddha Srinath

By | Galatta |
2021-02-15T17:57:52 +05:30 vishal chakra sneak peek shraddha srinath regina cassandra - Movie Cinema News

Arulnithi's varied selection of scripts continues and K-13 is the latest addition to that list. This Barath Neelakantan directorial is an intense thriller that has hit the screens today, May 3. Mathiyazhagan (Arulnithi) and Malarvizhi (Shraddha Srinath) get locked inside a single apartment and Mathi doesn't know how he ended up there. Things look puzzled for him as his only companion in the room, Malarvizhi is unconscious.

Arulnithi, as Mathi, holds the film with his intense acting that gives him a high scope to perform. The talented actor instils the tension in the viewers through his acting and he tries his best to do justice to the character of Mathiyazhagan. He also brings out the hardships of a failed filmmaker who struggles to make his first film. The actor inside Shraddha is neatly explored and her presence is there throughout the film. Her character happens to be the core essence of the film. She emotes the guilt, greed, and frustration in a neat manner.

Yogi Babu, Ramesh Thilak, Rishikanth, Jaangri Madhumitha, and Eruma Saani Vijay come in brief appearances. Despite having just one scene, director Adhik Ravichandran is impressive and he scores with just that one scene. The main protagonists of the film have a writer's background that suffices the proceedings in an exciting manner. More than anyone else, a person who is attracted towards writing and literature, will have a special connection with the film. The characteristic features of a writer are neatly explored and explained by Barath Neelakantan through his characters and the film showcases the eccentricity of a writer.

The final 15 minutes of the film will keep you uptight and glued to the seats, which uplifts the overall movie watching experience. There is a certain amount of smartness that you see coming out of Barath Neelakantan as a writer and he is definitely a very good writer. The director inside him also succeeds to an extent, but there is a tinge of lack in executing the scenes to the screen. Barath also inserts dialogues about assistant directors and his love for cinema through the gaps and situations where he gets to. The guessing game of finding Mr X is interesting and that leads the film from the front.

The audience's intelligence is tested with the screenplay writing and the film demands 100% attention of the viewer as you might miss the flow even if the slightest of the things aren't noticed. The scene between Adhik, Gayathrie, and Shraddha is one beautifully written and executed scene that has some intense moments. The short runtime of just 1 hour and 40 odd minutes is a positive for the film as anything more than this could have reduced the impact. One can tell that K-13 is a no-nonsense thriller that respects its audience.

On the downside, the film's engagement factor is quite less and you need to give it the time and space to establish the characters and the conflict. There are a few cinematic liberties taken to keep the momentum going as the logic takes a backseat at places. The narrative gets complex and confusing in the second half when things unfold one by one. Too many things happen within a short period of time. However, towards the end, the director brings the audience back on track.

Also, there is a possibility of people getting the deja-vu feels after the climax as the Kollywood audience have seen similar endings in the past. The scene between Yogi Babu and Jaangri Madhumitha is an unnecessary commercial addition that neither helps the flow of the film nor evokes laughter.

On the technical front, cinematographer Aravinnd Singh's shot compositions are neat and composed. The usage of dutch angles and fish eye lens is wise and noteworthy. A major part of the film happens inside one single apartment house and the cinematographer plays well with the space given to him. The team has shown some good production value despite the low budget of the film. Composer Sam CS' songs are weak and uninteresting, but his background score helps in keeping the momentum at a good pace. Editor Ruben's cuts are sleak and apt.

VERDICT - A neatly written smart thriller that has its moments!
RATING - 2.75/5
