During the fans meet organized by our Galatta team, actress Varalaxmi Sarathkumar shared a lot of interesting information about her movies. Interestingly she shared her experience of working with Thalapathy Vijay in the A. R. Murugadoss directorial Sarkar. When asked about his fight for Vijay during their visit to Las Vegas, she said, which can be roughly translated to, "I was taken to Las Vegas by them as entertainment. I only had one day of shooting, but I stayed for seven days. I sit and watch him dance. I dance with him during his rehearsals. They filmed the first song there. Someone in the crowd who appeared to be Indian inquired about Vijay. I immediately began fighting with him because he did not appear to be a foreigner, but rather a Tamil. Sarkar is a political action film released in 2018, directed and written by A.R. Murugadoss, and produced by Kalanithi Maran of Sun Pictures. The movie features a star-studded cast, including Vijay, Keerthy Suresh, Varalaxmi Sarathkumar, Yogi Babu, Radha Ravi, and Pala Karuppiah. The dialogues were co-written by Murugadoss and B. Jeyamohan. The film's music was composed by A.R. Rahman, while Girish Gangadaran handled the cinematography. Sarkar became a box office hit and was praised by critics for its impactful storytelling and strong performances by the cast.

Varalakshmi Sarathkumar, who made her debut as a heroine in Vignesh Sivan's Poda Podi alongside Silambarasan, has since then acted in numerous Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, and Kannada films. Her notable performances include roles in Thaarai Thapattai, Vikram Vedha, Nibunan, Sandakozhi 2, and the recently released Vindhya Victim Verdict V3. She has also played a menacing character in the Telugu film Veera Simha Reddy and the Tamil film Michael. Varalakshmi Sarathkumar is set to star as the lead actress in the upcoming action thriller film Sabari. In addition to this, she has several other Tamil films in the pipeline, including Pamban, Peranthal Parasakthi, and the Telugu film Hanuman, as well as Colors in Malayalam and Lagaam in Kannada. Fans can also look forward to the release of Konnal Paavam, another film starring Varalakshmi Sarathkumar.

In tragic news, popular Tamil film art director T. Santhanam, who became famous after his work in the 2010 cult classic Aayirathil Oruvan, has passed away. He was 50. According to reports, Santhanam died due to cardiac arrest on the night of Sunday, October 23. The news of the art director's sudden passing has left many in the film industry in a state of grief, with fans as well expressing their heartfelt condolences on social media. Acclaimed Tamil filmmaker Vasanthabalan was one among those in the film fraternity to pay his tributes in a heartfelt post on his Facebook page and shared his working experience with Santhanam during the filming of Kaaviya Thalaivan in 2014. He also shared a photo featuring them both, which was taken right after the late art director had won the Tamil Nadu State Award for his work in Kaaviya Thalaivan. 

After working under Selvaraghavan's direction in Aayirathil Oruvan, which starred Karthi, Reema Sen, and Andrea Jeremiah in the lead roles, and featured chart-buster music by G. V. Prakash Kumar, T. Santhanam's next big film was Deiva Thirumagal featuring 'Chiyaan' Vikram, Sara Arjun, Anushka Shetty, and Amala Paul, and was helmed by A. L. Vijay in 2011. The film turned out to be a massive critical and commercial success, with the entire technical team garnering praise, including Santhanam's work in the art direction department. He followed it up with commendable work in Sudha Kongara's hit Irudhi Suttru in 2016, which had Madhavan and Ritika Singh in the lead roles, with the film turning out to be yet another critical success, and Santhanam earning appreciation for his skills yet again. 

T. Santhanam's career took flight soon after when he landed big gigs in ventures namely the 2018 box office blockbuster, Sarkar, starring 'Thalapathy' Vijay and Keerthy Suresh under A. R. Murugadoss' direction. Produced by Sun Pictures, the film went on to become a massive commercial success and one of the highest-grossing ventures in Vijay's career. Santhanam's next biggie was the 'Superstar' Rajinikanth and Nayanthara-starrer Darbar in 2020, which once again reunited him with filmmaker A. R. Murugadoss, and expected the film turned out to be a huge money-spinner at the box office. There was no stopping the hit art director thereafter as he signed up for Karthik Subbaraj's Jagame Thandhiram starring Dhanush and Mahaan, which saw the father-son duo 'Chiyaan' Vikram and Dhruv Vikram share screen space for the first time. T Santhanam's next big film is the upcoming period action drama, August 16, 1947, directed by NS Ponkumar under the AR Murugadoss Productions banner and stars Gautham Karthik in the lead role. 

A film that has had fans everywhere excited right from the moment of its announcement last year, 'Ulaganayagan' Kamal Haasan's Vikram will see the iconic actor teaming up with director Lokesh Kanagraj, who is the current sensation in Tamil cinema. An ardent fan of Kamal himself, Lokesh has been mighty excited about the upcoming film touted to be an intense action thriller after three back-to-back successes namely his directorial debut Maanagaram in 2017, followed by the Karthi-starrer Kaithi in 2019 and the 'Thalapathy' Vijay box office blockbuster Master, which came out earlier this year. After the announcement of the National Award-winning stunt choreographer duo Anbariv coming on board for the action sequences in the film, Lokesh Kanagaraj took to social media on Friday to officially confirm that Girish Gangadharan will be handling the cinematography in Vikram, while also informing that cast updates will be coming in soon. 

Girish Gangadharan's name had been in the fray for a while now for Vikram after cinematographer Sathyan Sooryan, who previously collaborated on Lokesh Kanagaraj's Kaithi and Master opted out citing scheduling conflicts. Having made an impressive debut in Malayalam cinema in the 2013 film, Neelakasham Pachakadal Chuvanna Bhoomi, starring Dulquer Salmaan and Sunny Wayne, Girish soon became to go-to man and proved his skills and time and again in Kali, Angamaly Diaries, Solo, including Jallikattu. Just as his career was taking a big upswing in Malayalam, Girish made his Tamil cinema debut in 'Thalapathy' Vijay's 2018 action political drama blockbuster, Sarkar, under A. R. Murugadoss' direction. His addition to Vikram will no doubt be a big positive as the film being produced by Kamal Haasan's Raaj Kamal Films International is leaving no stone unturned in making the venture as big as possible and the latest announcement from Lokesh Kanagaraj will indeed add to the huge hype surrounding it.

Kamal Haasan's Vikram has been riding on massive excitement considering the film already has top Malayalam actors like Fahadh Faasil and Narain as part of its cast. The Vikram title announcement teaser too had created a tremendous buzz, with the visuals and Kamal's rugged and uber cool stylish look continuing to be the talk of the town, with 'Rockstar' Anirudh Ravichander also set to be yet another big USP for the film. 

Rajinikanth's first step in his political journey came on December 31, 2017 when he announced to the world saying, “Naan arasiyal ku varuvadhu urudhi”, leaving his fans everywhere ecstatic. Two years on, there have been various opinions made by people from all walks of life about the veteran actor yet to make any big decision in regard to politics. However, his sudden press meet earlier today morning has been the talk of the town among fans and political analysts as well with Rajinikanth going on to announce that he will not be contesting for the Chief Minister designation in the upcoming 2021 Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly election.

Rajinikanth announcing that he will not be contesting for the Chief Minister designation in the 2021 Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly election has left many surprised, but is also reminiscent of a plot point from the actor's own film, Baba, released in 2002. In Baba, we see Rajinikanth's character (Baba) bestowed with seven wishes and how he uses one of them to nominate a senior individual to become the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister, who eventually gets killed. After that, we see Baba turning back and taking his steps towards the people from his initial plan of embarking on spiritual journey to the Himalayas.

Likewise, we witnessed something similar in the 2018 blockbuster, Sarkar, where towards the climax Vijay chooses to step away from becoming the TN CM while nominating an aged and experienced individual. The scene in Sarkar was a major high point in the plot and has since received major appreciation from fans and critics alike.

Both these sequences in Baba and Vijay's Sarkar are quite similar to what Rajinikanth has decided in terms of his political strategy and it remains to be seen what the future holds for the veteran actor. As of now, Rajinikanth is acting in Sun Pictures' Annaatthe being directed by Siva while the actor is also said to be in talks for a film to be produced by Kamal Haasan's Raaj Kamal Films International with Master director Lokesh Kanagaraj speculated to take charge as the captain of the ship for the venture.

Thalapathy Vijay's last release Sarkar, which was directed by AR Murugadoss, turned out to become a blockbuster hit. This movie saw Vijay as an NRI whose vote gets illegally cast by somebody else and what he does to reclaim his right to vote. Starring Keerthy Suresh as the female lead, Sarkar had quite a social impact too. It is common knowledge that Vijay has now completed shooting for his next movie Bigil, directed by Atlee. Vijay is playing dual roles in this movie, which is centred around women's football and has Nayanthara as the female lead. We now have details of a juicy link between Sarkar and Bigil.

In Sarkar, it was Yogi Babu's character who illegally cast Vijay's vote following which he joined Vijay and became his assistant in the movie. Now, it is also known that Yogi Babu is playing an important role in Bigil too. In a scene where a politician comes to Vijay's area asking for his support in the upcoming elections, one of the politician's goons is said to threaten Vijay. The goon reportedly threatens Vijay that he has the capability to cast the latter's vote illegally. To this statement, Yogi Babu is said to reply that he himself has already done that and that is the reason he has now become Vijay's assistant. Apparently, Yogi Babu is referencing to the scene from Sarkar.

Vijay is said to be playing the roles of both father and son. Bigil is fast nearing the end of the post production work and getting ready to hit the screens for this Deepavali. Bigil's audio, composed by AR Rahman, is all set to be launched on September 19th. Produced by AGS Entertainments, this movie directed by Atlee has cinematography by GK Vishnu and editing by Ruben.

Founded in 2000,  Kalanithi Maran's Sun Pictures has distributed very selective films from the year 2008 and have produced even a fewer number of movies. Superstar's Enthiran being the first and Vijay's Sarkar being the second, followed by Petta, Kanchana3 and SK 16.

On account of Vijay's birthday, Sun Pictures had a poll conducted in their official Twitter handle yesterday (21 June), asking the fans and followers to pick a favorite scene from Sarkar and announced that the one with most votes will be posted on 22nd. The poll recorded 53,787 votes as of June 22nd afternoon.

Naturally the fight scene at the political party office got the maximum votes of 41%, with Ayodhya kuppam scene with 25%, the climax speech scene with 18% and 49P explanation scene received the least of  16%. Check out the fight scene video below!

Sarkar was a 2018 Deepavali release featuring Vijay, Keerthy SUresh, varalaxmi sarathkumar, Radha Ravi, Yogi Babu and Prem Kumar amongst the others. After Thuppakki and Kaththi, Sarkar was the third time that AR Murugadoss and Vijay collaborated. Although the movie had received mixed reviews, the premise and the performances of the cast was appreciated.

The biggest career opening for ‘Thalapathy’ Vijay was with the action blockbuster, Sarkar, released last year, which went on to hit over 250 crores in box office collections. Produced by Sun Pictures with music by Academy Award-winning composer A. R. Rahman, the production house has now released the “Top Tucker” official video song featured on the superstar in action taking on goons with the film’s female lead Keerthy Suresh too being featured.

An A. R. Murugadoss directorial, Sarkar also included actress Varalaxmi Sarathkumar in a negative role alongside veteran actors Pala. Karuppiah and Radha Ravi and, Yogi Babu providing comedic relief. The film revolved Vijay’s character, who returns to India to cast his vote in the elections only to find out it had been cast already. The plot struck a chord with the masses as well as the classes who went on to laud the hit filmmaker for his efforts to raise awareness on Section 49P.

Both Vijay and A. R. Murugadoss are now working on different projects with the former teaming up with director Atlee for Thalapathy 63 and the latter joining hands with ‘Superstar’ Rajinikanth for Darbar. Meanwhile, check out the “Top Tucker” official video song from Sarkar below:

Suriya's NGK, directed by Selvaraghavan and produced by Dream Warrior Pictures is off to a very good start at the box office, especially at the Chennai box office. The film is said to have got the highest Day 1 collections in Suriya's filmography. The film did receive mixed reviews from a certain section of audience, but it is believed that the experience might change when witnessed the second time in the theatre.

Lots of decoding about the film are on process by the fans and cinema followers. Even, Selvaraghavan had stated that the film has some interesting hidden details and layers that signify the character of NGK. Coming back to the box office collections, NGK has made it to the all time top 10 highest grossing films (Day 1) at the Chennai city box office.

NGK has apparently collected around Rs 1.03 crores on its first day, thereby becoming the highest ever collected Suriya film. The list is topped by Superstar Rajinikanth's sci-fi thriller, 2.0, followed by Thalapathy Vijay's Sarkar. The third place is secured by Rajinikanth's Kaala.

It is not a scenario everyday that a scene from a film happens or gets recreated in real life and the same can be said about how a voter yesterday (April 18) was denied from casting his vote reminding us the plot of ‘Thalapathy’ Vijay’s blockbuster, Sarkar, released last year.

During the polling for the Lok Sabha Elections 2019 that happened across various parts of the country, a common man named Ganesh Raja in Tamil Nadu was denied from voting yesterday after he discovered that some other individual had cast a vote in his name.

Upon finding out that his vote had been cast by somebody else, the individual had argued with the election officials asking them to allow him to cast a Ballot Vote. Apparently, he had come to know about the Ballot Vote system under Section 49P, which was the biggest highlight including a driving plot point in Sarkar.

After emerging victorious and casting his vote, Ganesh Raja took to his Twitter page to post a video of the altercation with the election officials detailing the events at the polling booth while also expressing his gratitude to Vijay for the important message conveyed to the masses and the classes in Sarkar, which also went on to be acknowledged by the film's director, A. Superstar Rajinikanth was last seen in Karthik Subbaraj's most awaited film titled Petta which went on to be a blockbuster hit. It is well known that Rajini will next be seen in his upcoming big venture directed by A.R.Murugadoss. On the technical front, the film will have music by Anirudh Ravichander and cinematography by Santosh Sivan. Actress Nayanthara is said to be playing the female lead in this biggie and it is the third time she will be seen sharing screen space with Rajini after Chandramukhi and Kuselan. 

Earlier we informed our viewers that the untitled film will release for Pongal 2020 and the team is expected to start rolling in the second week of April 2019. The first schedule is likely to take place in Mumbai. Currently, the pre-production work for the film is going at a brisk pace and now we have another big update regarding this project.



Sources close to us have hinted that art director Santhanam has been roped in to design for Thalaivar 166. It is to be noted that art director Santhanam had earlier worked in Thalapathy Vijay's Sarkar directed by A.R.Murugadoss. the director is once again collaborating with Santhanam for this biggie!
