Music director Yuvan Shankar Raja has collaborated with producer Abinesh Elangovan (of Abi & Abi Entertainment) in the creation of an independent single song which is titled 'Thappu Panniten'. The highlight of this single track is that it is crooned by Silambarasan TR. The star actor is a highly talented singer and it is a delight to witness the singer inside him once again. Yuvan Shankar Raja is only presenting the song and is not the composer. 'Thappu Panniten' song is composed by AK Priyan and the lyrics is penned by Vignesh Ramakrishnan.

The video song will feature Kalidas Jayaram and Megha Akash as the leads. The full video song is all set to release tomorrow (July 8) at 6 PM on YouTube and the fans are eagerly looking forward to the release. Ahead of the release, the makers have released a short promo teaser of the song and the teaser looks quite promising. The teaser has a voice over narration featuring Simbu and he talks about how he shouldn't have let go of his girlfriend due to a few ego clashes. He feels bad that he has committed a mistake. The song is hence titled, 'Thappu Panniten' and it seems to be a soulful love breakup song.

Silambarasan TR's rendition is going to be one of the major strengths of this song and it is going to be strongly supported by Kalidas Jayaram and Megha Akash's screen presence. The video song of 'Thappu Panniten' is directed by Dongli Jumbo. Oh My Kadavule and LKG fame Vidhu Ayyana has cranked the camera for this song which is choreographed by Sandy Master. The song's audio rights is acquired by Yuvan Shankar Raja's U1 Records.

Leading Tamil production banner Vels Film International announced a number of ventures in their lineup in 2019 and one notable project among them was Kutty Story, an anthology of love stories. Tamil filmmakers have been doing anthologies more of late, which have been yielding them successful results as fans have taken a liking to their efforts for the OTT medium. In comparison to a majority of the anthologies that have been coming out, Vels Film International's Kutty Story has been announced for a theatrical release and will be coming out on the big screen as a Valentine's Day weekend treat on February 12. 

The Kutty Story anthology film is also a collection of four short stories in line with the recently-released Paava Kadhaigal, which received stunning feedback on Netflix. The shooting for Kutty Story took place during the lockdown period last year, with leading Tamil filmmakers Gautham Vasudev Menon, Venkat Prabhu, A.L. Vijay, and Nalan Kumarasamy coming on board to direct the four short stories in the anthology. All four directors have their own trademark in romance as they have done films in the genre in the past and their take in Kutty Story is now most awaited. 

Kutty Story's star cast includes 'Makkal Selvan' Vijay Sethupathi and Aruvi heroine Aditi Balan romancing in the Nalan Kumarasamy-directed segment, with Puppy and Joshua fame Varun and Bigg Boss 3 sensation Sakshi Agarwal playing the leads in Venkat Prabhu's directorial. Likewise, Velaiyilla Pattathari fame Amitash Pradhan and ENPT actress Megha Akash have been paired in A. L. Vijay's segment, with Gautham Menon himself directing and acting in his portion opposite Amala Paul. Popular Tamil actors Robo Shankar, Vinod Kishan, Sangeetha Krish, Ayra, Luthfudeen among others have also been cast in Kutty Story and will be appearing in the respective segments. 

As promotions for Kutty Story are underway, the film's much-awaited trailer has now been released and gives us the first glimpse of the four short stories, which primarily delve on human relationships and romance between the couples in the anthology. Kutty Story includes a stellar technical team contributing their skills to each of the segments among whom are Premgi Amaren, singer Karthik, Madhu. R and Edwin Louis Viswanath for the music, Manoj Pramahamsa, Arvind Krishna, Sakthi Saravanan and N Shanmuga Sundaram for the cinematography and Anthony, Praveen KL and A Sreekar Prasad on the editing front.

Director Balaji Tharaneetharan’s (Naduvula Konjam Pakkatha Kaanom fame) second directorial, Oru Pakka Kathai, is finally gearing up for a release after several years of wait. The film is scheduled to release on December 25 on Zee 5 streaming platform and the fans are eagerly looking forward to seeing it. Oru Pakka Kathai features Kalidas Jayaram and Megha Akash in the lead roles and this film should have been the actual debut of Megha. The makers have now released the official trailer of the film which looks quite intriguing and promising. The trailer is packed in an interesting manner that you cannot come to any conclusions regarding the story or premise.

The film seems to have an unique take on superstitious beliefs and the involvement of science. The trailer keeps us glued to the screens with the proceedings and director Balaji seems to have got a promising content in hand. The trailer tells you that Oru Pakka Kathai is not going to be an usual romantic drama and let us wait until Christmas to see what happens. This promo video has got a very good reception from the fans and let us hope that the film also receives such a feedback.

Oru Pakka Kathai is produced by KS Sreenivasan under the banner of Vasan Visual Ventures and has music scored by 96 fame Govind Vasantha. Prem Kumar, the director of 96, has cranked the camera for this film that has been edited by Anthony. PV Chandramouli, Jeeva Ravi, Lakshmi Priya and Meena Vemuri play supporting roles. Earlier, the film had faced a few problems with the Censor Board (CBFC) who wanted to mute the word, ‘intercourse’. However, director Balaji and team were not convinced since they felt that it was a key part of the story. Now that the film is having a digital release, they don’t have to worry about censorship.

The last few OTT releases in Tamil - Soorarai Pottru, Mookuthi Amman, and Andhaghaaram have turned out to be solid hits and let us see if Oru Pakka Kathai follows suit. A few months back, it was officially announced that Ashok Selvan and Oru Nalla Naal Paathu Solren fame Niharika Konidela will star together for an upcoming romantic comedy, directed by debutant Swathini. The news created a good buzz on social media and seemed like an interesting project to watch out for. However, it has now been revealed that Niharika Konidela will no longer be a part of the film. Yes! She has opted out of the project due to her personal commitments. Niharika recently got engaged to the love of her life, JV Chaitanya and the engagement pictures went viral on social media. The couple is said to be getting married in December, this year and hence she has decided to step out of the film. The makers are reportedly planning to go on floors from the month of October.

Interestingly, the young and happening Megha Akash has replaced Niharika and will romance Ashok Selvan in this youthful entertainer. Megha Akash rose to fame after playing the female lead in Gautham Vasudev Menon’s Enai Noki Paayum Thota and there has been no lookback since then. Megha is turning out to be one of the important young talents in Tamil cinema and let us hope that this new project gives her a good breakthrough. Talking about the film, Megha Akash says, “Being a part of films that own unique scripts and give more space for female characters is always bliss for any heroines. And to get such offers isn’t an easy thing. When Swathini narrated the script and my role, I could instantly get into its shoes feeling its soul. I am super-excited to be a part of this project and can’t wait for the shooting to take off next month.”

Reportedly, Megha Akash will be seen playing a tango dancer and the film will revolve around the relationship between her and Ashok Selvan, who plays a cinematographer. This comedy drama is produced by Selva Kumar of Kenanya Films and has music scored by Leon James. On the technical side, this untitled film will have cinematography by AR Soorya and editing by Richard Kevin. The film’s shooting is planned to begin from the last week of October with all precautionary measures taken. Ashok Selvan’s last outing, Oh My Kadavule was a super hit at the box office and the young actor will be looking forward to continuing the success streak with this new film as well.

Earlier this week, the Tamil cinema audience were pleasantly surprised by the official announcement of the Tamil anthology film, Kutti Love Story. This anthology film brings four directors - Gautham Vasudev Menon, Venkat Prabhu, Vijay and Nalan Kumarasamy together for the first time. The film will comprise four short stories that will have the common theme as love. Noted producer Ishari K Ganesh has produced this romantic anthology film under his banner of Vels Film International. The shooting for this project is completed and the directors are currently said to be busy with the post production works of their respective portions. The shooting of all the four short films happened amidst the lockdown with precautionary measures and minimal crew.

The promo teaser of this film was released recently and it opened to a good reception from the fans. We saw all the four directors revealing a glimpse of their portion’s story through voice over narrations that were nicely backed by Karthik’s background score. We had reported that director Vijay’s portion would feature Megha Akash and VIP fame Amitash Pradhan in the lead roles.

Following that, details regarding the cast of the other portions have also been revealed and there are a lot of exciting names on the card! Nalan Kumarasamy, who is back into direction after Kadhalum Kadandhu Pogum, has teamed up once again with his favourite man, Vijay Sethupathi for this anthology film. Yes! Vijay Sethupathi would be seen playing the lead in Nalan’s portion. Gautham Vasudev Menon’s portion will feature Amala Paul as the lead and this is the first time the duo are collaborating together. Gautham Menon is known for creating beautiful woman characters and it looks like Amala Paul has got to play a very interesting role. Details regarding Vijay Sethupathi’s pair in Nalan’s portion and Amala Paul’s pair in Gautham Menon’s portion is yet to be known.

Producer Ishari Ganesh confirmed this through his latest tweet that read, “Happy to produce this new venture under Vels Film International. Megha Akash is one of the promising actors in the current generation and her last release was the Gautham Vasudev Menon directorial - Enai Noki Paayum Thota in which she delivered an impressive performance as Lekha. Apart from ENPT, Megha has also acted as the female lead in STR's Vantha Rajavathaan Varuven and Atharvaa's Boomerang. She also played a brief character in Superstar Rajinikanth's mega blockbuster, Petta, directed by Karthik Subbaraj. Up next, she would be seen playing the love interest of Makkal Selvan Vijay Sethupathi in Yaadhum Oore Yaavarum Kelir. Directed by debutant Venkata Krishna Roghanth, this musical romantic film features an interesting star cast including Vivekh, Riythvika, Kaniha, directors Magizh Thirumeni and Mohan Raja.

Megha will also be seen playing an important role in Bollywood Superstar Salman Khan's next outing, Radhe, which is directed by Prabhu Deva. If things go well, we can expect Radhe to give Megha Akash a good breakthrough in Hindi cinema.

And now, she has been signed to play one of the leads in director Vijay’s next anthology film. More surprisingly, the shooting for this anthology movie has happened recently in a minimal scale following the precautionary measures. Megha Akash has already shot for four days for this anthology film. Talking about the experience of shooting during the pandemic, Megha Akash told Deccan Chronicle, “As a precautionary measure, I had isolated myself for 10 days after shooting because I didn’t want to trouble my grandparents at home. What I realised is that everyone else on the set could work wearing a mask, but actors can’t do that. That’s a very scary thought”.

It looks like director Vijay has silently started his next project during this lockdown phase. There were no announcements or updates regarding this anthology project and it looks like something interesting is in the making. We will get a better clarity on this anthology film in the next few days.

Vijay is also making the biopic of former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister, J Jayalalitha, titled Thalaivi, which stars Kangana Ranaut in the titular role. Arvind Swami plays M.G.R’s character in this film that also has Madhoo, Poorna, Jisshu Sengupta, Samuthirakani, and Bhagyashree in supporting roles. Produced by Vishnu Vardhan Induri and Shailesh Singh, Thalaivi has music scored by G.V.Prakash Kumar and cinematography by Vishal Vittal. Thalaivi is being made as a pan Indian film in Tamil, Hindi and Telugu.

With the film out in theatres now, a special release promo featuring Dhanush and Megha Akash has now been released on the Ondraga Entertainment YouTube channel. In this new promo, we see Megha Akash (Lekha) requesting Dhanush (Raghu) rather frantically if he can get her out of his college campus where the shooting for her film is taking place. Dhanush is seen talking to his friend next and then goes over to inform Megha that his friend will take her to the destination she desires. 

Enai Noki Paayum Thota had been mired in a long-standing release limbo and the film’s release today has no doubt come as a major cause for celebration among director Gautham Menon’s ardent fans considering it is his first film after the 2016 hit, Achcham Yenbadhu Madamaiyada. ENPT is also Dhanush’s next in a space of less than two months after the National Award-winning actor delivered a thunderous performance in the blockbuster, Asuran, raising a curiosity among many for him to come up with yet another memorable act.
