Veteran producer Boney Kapoor's latest Hindi film, Maidaan, starring National Award winners Ajay Devgn and Priyamani in the lead roles and directed by Amit Sharma has been receiving a positive response at the box office along with critical acclaim. The biographical sports drama film had initially been announced with National Award-wining Tamil actress Keerthy Suresh as the female lead before Priyamani was cast in the role. Meanwhile, Boney Kapoor, during an exclusive interview with Galatta India host Nayandeep Rakshit, opened up on Keerthy Suresh opting out of Maidaan saying she felt it wasn't the right role to be launched in Hindi cinema. 

Speaking about Keerthy Suresh's exit from Maidaan, Boney Kapoor said "We shot with her. Finally, she felt that she shouldn't be launched in a film where she's got two grown-up children. And, parallelly my director who was editing those scenes had called me. When she called me to Chennai, she said I need to talk to you. I was trying to figure out what she wants to talk to me about. My director had called me and said, 'Boney ji, when you come here, you have a look at the rushes of the scenes we have shot.' He didn't tell me what the actual situation was." He continued, "Then, I met Keerthy and she said she needs to opt out of the film because she feels this role is not the right one to be launched in Hindi. I was thinking about how I've spent so much on that set where we shot for two days with her, but she was very sure. I had no choice because you can't really force anybody." 

Boney Kapoor further explained, "I came back to Bombay dejected and I told Amit that she's not keen to do it. He said, 'Thank God. I called you for this only. We cannot do injustice to her.' Because she's lost weight. When we did the audition, we took the [look] test with her. She was healthier than what she was when we shot with her. She looked like a glamorous heroine when we shot with her. And, it would be unfair for us to give her this part where she's playing a mother to a 16-year-old daughter and a 19-year-old son. We parted amicably. We still are very good friends and I surely will work with her sometime or the other." 

Jayam Ravi's big Diwali treat is the teaser of his new film titled Siren directed by debutant Antony Bhagyaraj featuring music by National Award-winning composer G. V. Prakash Kumar. The leading Tamil actor, who kicked off 2023 with Agilan and followed it up with the blockbuster Ponniyin Selvan: 2, while being seen last in Iraivan, is set to wrap the year on a high note with the upcoming action drama, which also stars National Award-winning actress Keerthy Suresh as the female lead, while Anupama Parameswaran is appearing in a key role. Announced to come out as a grand pan-Indian release this December, Jayam Ravi's much-awaited Siren teaser is now out and gives audiences the first glimpse at the high drama and the intense action in store in cinemas. 

The Siren teaser starts off with Keerthy Suresh's voiceover, who is heard talking about an ambulance driver revealed to be none other than Jayam Ravi. We next hear her say that he's been waiting patiently to get out of jail as she then says that he finally gets an opportunity to leave the confines of the prison after a 16-year wait. Another part of the Siren teaser is Jayam Ravi's voiceover, who in the beginning is heard saying that he and 250 other inmates are "special" while adding that they all are where they are now because they became killers. He's then heard saying how he and the other convicts need to think about clearing their names from the mistakes they have committed rather than just stepping out of jail. 

The Siren teaser revolves around plenty of wordplay between Jayam Ravi and Keerthy Suresh's characters, with Samuthirakani, Yogi Babu, and Azhagamperumal, among others also making appearances, and the plot hinting at an individual facing the consequences for the wrong actions committed by someone else. The visuals in this latest glimpse are fast giving the narrative a racy feel along with an ample amount of action, romance, comedy, and sentiment packaged together and will appeal to the family audience demography. Siren looks to be promising based on the teaser released and Jayam Ravi's salt-and-pepper look showcases his character's arc and age in the story, while Keerthy Suresh is playing the role of a police officer, who has donned the khakhi for the second time after Saani Kaayidham (2022), which featured her as a constable.

Maamannan is a recent film that was released in theatres on 29th June and has Udhayanidhi Stalin and ‘Vaigai Puyal' Vadivelu in lead roles. The team of Maamannan including the actor, director Mari Selvaraj, and Keerthy Suresh celebrated the success of the film with music composer A.R. Rahman. The photos shared by the production of Red Giant Films that bankrolled the film show the actor turned politician offering flowers to A.R. Rahman and Mari Selvaraj offering a basket of flowers to the music composer. It then shows the cast and crew cutting a cake and celebrating the event. The production house shared the photos with the caption “And they are called the Blockbuster team" and added "the celebrations begin with Maamannan running successfully at the box officer worldwide."

Actor and producer of Maamannan Udhayanidhi Stalin has also shared pictures from the success celebration and said "On behalf of film crew, we express our gratitude to Isaipuyal A.R. Rahman who has made the film a success with lively music". The oscar Award winning composer's son Ameer was also present during the celebrations. It is speculated that the film has collected Rs.10 crores in the two-day theatrical run of the film. It will make the last film of Udhayanidhi Stalin as an actor as he has taken oath as a Minister in the Tamil Nadu assembly and the actor recently confirmed this information in an interaction with the press and media.

The actress said it would be a dream to act in Mari sir's films for many actresses, "when he asked I felt I would have an important role." The actress went on say that he is one of the directors who would give importance to the female character and she knew that she would play an important character, “So, I knew there is something in it otherwise, he wouldn’t ask me."

Actress Keerthy Suresh then explained why she asked the director Arun Matheshwaran why he chose her for the role in Saani Kaayidham because it was a role she had not done before at all. “It was a different genre altogether and so my question (to the director) was how do you think I will be able to pull it off." She then revealed that the director said he wanted the actress to play the role because he hasn't played such a rugged character. “I haven't done this, a communist like character too, but when he asked I knew it was something that I can do and I had that space. Anybody would want to be in his film.” said the actress Keerthy Suresh.

He said “Nobody would have thought about it because it's been a long time since he (Vadivelu) had done a role like this. I thought we will ask him and I called Vadivelu's brother and he was sigining in comedy films at that time. I asked him to watch Pariyerum Perumal and Karan”. The actor said that he convinced Vadivelu that this could be his  last film and asked him to hear the story. The actor then said Vadivelu replies to him and asked if he heard the story and said “if you are ok with the story then I am ok". Then, he said that "Mari sir said Fahad Faasil would be nice if he did the opposite role". Udhayanidhi Stalin revealed that the Malayalam actor agreed without hearing the story.

Udhayanidhi Stalin explained that Mari Selvaraj's choice of music composer was Santhosh Narayanan but they roped in A.R. Rahman because the actor wanted to work with the composer for at least one film. He said “I first introduced them in a Zoom call during lockdown and told him it's my last film". He said himself and Keerthy Suresh wanted to do a film for a long time and she agreed immediately because of the director. He further said “Every character will have equal importance." I thought I will get movies." She then said at one point, she needed to be financially stable "so I had to do something and I needed to move with whatever I was given. At the time I had my insecurities,I was financially unstable, I do not want to go deep into the conversation. But in a few days, I got my next offer and become stable". The actress said at some point she would have insecurities but somewhere she would feel she’s blessed.

Bhola Shankar is the next big project of popular Telugu actor Mega Star Chiranjeevi. The film is set to release in theatres on 11th August. The film will mark the comeback of the director Meher Ramesh and will have Tamannaah playing the female lead, while actress Keerthy Suresh will be the sister role to Chiranjeevi in the film.
