The Me Too movement unearthed a number of sexual assault cases from Indian Cinema as well as in a lot of other places. Many big names came up and the movement is still continuing with allegations coming out still! Just a couple of days back, actress Payal Ghosh broke the headlines with allegations of ace director & actor Anurag Kashyap sexually assaulting her. She had posted a Tweet, tagging the Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, asking him to take action. Payal had mentioned that Anurag Kashyap had forced himself on her badly and also went on to state that he had behaved lewdly with her, stating that he had been with over 200 girls and that they all had a good time with him.

However, many Bollywood celebrities including Anurag Kashyap's ex-wives and a number of leading actresses had expressed their support for Anurag Kashyap, stating that these were false allegations and that he would never behave in the way Payal Ghosh had stated. Actors like Taapsee, Kalki Koechlin, Irrfan Khan's son Babil and many others backed Anurag Kashyap's response that Payal Ghosh's claims were baseless. Anurag Kashyap's lawyer also issued a statement reiterating that all these allegations of sexual misconduct were baseless and that he would be following legal recourse. Though a number of organisations and celebrities like Kangana Ranaut came out in support of Payal, many people also slammed her for seeking cheap publicity.

Actress Kasthuri, who is very vocal on social issues, had also weighed in her opinion on this issue by expressing the legal view that without tangible or corroborative evidence, it was very near impossible to prove sexual assault. She had also stated in such cases, these allegations could ruin the names of one or all the names involved and added, "Nothing Good". Like most of her opinions, this tweet too stirred polarised opinions from Twitterati. One such Twitter user questioned Kasthuri, asking if she would still mention legal view, if such a thing had happened to anybody close to her. Replying to this question, Kasthuri mentioned that it had happened to herself and added that it is how it is, with the hashtag - #behindcloseddoors. Now, this too has been receiving radical comments on Twitter. Irrespective of who the perpetrator is, sexual misconduct against anybody is a crime.

For the past few days, the entire social media is abuzz about Vanitha Vijaykumar’s wedding and the controversies that followed after. The Bigg Boss 3 contestant got married to VFX Supervisor Peter Paul on June 27 in Chennai amidst the lockdown, in the presence of selective guests. However, post the wedding, Peter Paul’s first wife Elizabeth Helen came out and demanded justice. People like Suriya Devi, producer Ravindar Chandrasekhar came in support of Elizabeth Helen and condemned Vanitha Vijayakumar’s activities.

With so much going around, Vanitha and Peter Paul came together for an interview on Vanitha’s YouTube channel and the said interview has already garnered a lot of attention among the people of Tamil Nadu. Peter Paul explained his side of the story and it got a mixed reception from the audience. Following the interview, Elizabeth Helen strongly condemned the attitude and behaviour of Peter Paul and said that his words have depressed her.

Actress Kasthuri Shankar of Indian and Bigg Boss fame came in support of Elizabeth and interacted with her through an interview for Galatta Media. Kasthuri also condemned Vanitha’s behaviour on Twitter and asked her to maintain her limits. However, Kasthuri’s words irked Vanitha and eventually that lead to a strong exchange of words and emotions on the micro blogging platform. Kasthuri and Vanitha had a heated argument after which Vanitha said that she will be blocking Kasthuri.

Vanitha tweeted, "Going on YouTube trying to act like a saint and role playing as lawyer and judge is against law when it is not legal platform just to create a publicity stunt probing into someone's personal is the cheapest possible creature @KasthuriShankar @LakshmyRamki lay off ur drama". Kasthuri replied to this by tweeting, "Look who is talking. Take your private life off youtube then talk. Hypocrite. Stop your cyber abuse, whole world saw your potty mouth against madam Lakshmi. No TV show friends here to conveniently edit out your expletives. You are exposing yourself, no one else is to blame."

In return, Vanitha said, "You can't take off your nude pictures off internet can u… @KasthuriShankar u think ur perfect just because no one is bothered about ur boring sick life..and all ur butting into politics and acting like some experienced lawyer or journalist..when it doesn't involve u the decent ting to do is stay away." Actress Kasthuri Shankar has been a prominent name in Tamil cinema ever since she landed starring roles in the early 1990s and has made appearances in several popular South Indian ventures over the course of her career. She is at present a part of the ongoing Telugu television serial, Gruhalakshmi, being aired on the Star Maa channel. Kasthuri's popularity shot up after she made an appearance last year on the third edition of the smash hit Tamil reality TV show, Bigg Boss, and is also one among the few outspoken celebrities in the Tamil film industry having raised her voice on various social, political and national issues.

Now, Kasthuri has spoken about the coronavirus that has affected lakhs of people across the world while revealing how she and her crew were shocked upon learning about it during their shoot near the Mindspace tech park in Hyderabad, which was soon after evacuated. There have been several instances of coronavirus across the nation including Mumbai, Delhi, Andra Pradesh and Kerala.

Kasthuri's statement on her Twitter page about the coronavirus scare is as follows: "Mindspace offices in Hyderabad under lockdown today due to coronavirus scare. We are shooting nearby only. Our entire crew is shitting bricks". On the professional front, Kasthuri Shankar will be seen in a major supporting role in today's release, Velvet Nagaram, starring Varalakshmi Sarathkumar and the upcoming Vijay Antony starrer, Thamezharasan.

Actress Varalaxmi Sarathkumar was last seen in Tamil cinema in the romantic horror film, Neeya 2, and had left fans raving about her performances as the antagonist in Vishal's Sandakozhi 2 and 'Thalapathy' Vijay's Sarkar. A year since her last theatrical release, Varalaxmi's first film of 2020 will be Velvet Nagaram directed by debutant Manojkumar Natarajan and has been produced by Arun Karthik under the Makers Studio banner.

An action thriller, Varalaxmi Sarathkumar's Velvet Nagaram is hitting screens later this week on March 6 and had generated quite a lot of curiosity with its action-packed trailer that was released not long back featuring the popular actress flexing her muscles and taking up the challenge of delving right in the midst of daring stunts. With promotions for the film already underway, the makers have now released the first Velvet Nagaram sneak peek video featured on Varalaxmi and her co-artist, Kasthuri Shankar.

Being released under the D Pictures banner, Velvet Nagaram's star cast also includes names like Ramesh Thilak, Arjai among others with music composed by Achu Rajamani, cinematography by Bhagath Kumar, Raymond Derrick Crasta taking care of the editing, Kumar Gangappan serving as the art director, and lyrics written by Kaber Vasuki.

The third season of the television reality show Bigg Boss has crossed its 60th day and things just got settled this week after a controversial last week. The Bigg Boss house was upside down last week as so much happened like Vanitha's re-entry, Kasthuri entered the house as a wild card entrant, heartbreak between Mugen and Abirami and the biggest of them all - Madhumitha's exit from the Bigg Boss house for reasons to be revealed. The Bigg Boss team decided to calm things down and this week saw some fun episodes without any fuzz.

For this week's eviction, the majority of the members inside the house voted for Kasthuri and Cheran as they made the list along with Tharshan and Sandy who were also voted by a few. After the nomination process Kasthuri, Cheran, Sandy and Tharshan were the four contestants in the danger zone this week.

As we reported earlier, Kasthuri secured the lowest number of votes among the other contestants and was the one to be evicted from the Bigg Boss house this week. Notably, Kasthuri entered the Bigg Boss house as a wild card entrant just a week back. Kasthuri's eviction comes as a disappointment for many as she had high expectation even before entering the house. The interesting thing about Kasthuri's eviction is that Kamal Haasan offered the actress an oppertunity to go in the secret room and re-enter the Bigg Boss house but Kasthuri rejected the offer and decided to walk away from the show.

With Kasthuri's eviction, the Bigg Boss house now has 8 contestants fighting for the grand title. As we enter the final stages of the season things are expected to heat up inside the house.

The third promo for today's (August 20) episode is out and this one is a controversial promo. The contestants have been assigned a new task in today's episode and in this task, they will be seen as school going kids. Kasthuri were assigned to play the role of a teacher while Cheran is the Headmaster. The first two promos were a mix of fun and anger, while the third and the latest one is full-on controversy. In this third promo, we see an argument breaking out between Vanitha and Kasthuri.

It looks like Vanitha is offended by a comment made by Kasthuri about her that irked her. Both of them are involved in a serious verbal fight but other housemates don't seem to give a damn about it. Check out the promo here:

E.P.CO 302 is directed by Salangai Durai who earlier directed Kathavarayan and the film stars Naga Sakthi, Rabin Prabhu, Honey Rose, Kathir, Vaiyapuri, Vince Kumar, Varshitha, Crane Manohar, Bonda Mani and others. The film is produced by Sengodan Duraisamy and KK Ganeshan under the banner South Indian Productions. Camera is handled by Dandapani, music is composed by Alex Paul, editing is done by Kalidass. Coming to the teaser, Kasthuri is seen in a Police avatar and the video is filled with some noticeable dialogues. Today’s Bigg Boss Tamil season 3’s episode is about a task where all the contestants are made to dress up like children. Expect for Cheran and Kasthuri, all the other contestants are seen wearing school kids dress. Kasthuri is apparently a school teacher in today’s episode while Cheran is the principal of the school. Just like the first promo, even the second one is dramatic and quite interesting. To see someone like Vanitha and Sherin in school kid’s costumes look cute and interesting. Dhanush father, Kasthuri Raja is all set to make a comeback with a titled Kasu Panam Thutu, named after a famous song from Nalan Kumarasamy's Soodhu Kavvum. Starring newcomers in lead roles, the film will narrate the situations of people living in the slums. The film was earlier titled Asura Kulam. Apart from wielding the megaphone, Raja has also penned the story and screenplay of this flick.
