PETTA Audio Launch: Karthik Subbaraj Imitates THALAIVAR!
By Lokesh RV | Galatta | 11:55 PM
The audio launch of Superstar Rajinikanth's Petta is happening at Chennai on a grand scale with the whole cast and crew of the movie. Director Karthik Subbaraj, Producer Kalanidhi Maran, and the stars Vijay Sethupathi, Simran, Trisha, Malavika Mohanan, Sasikumar, Bobby Simha and many more are at the event.
Speaking at the audio launch, Karthik Subbaraj said, "I still can't imagine that this happened. More than movies Rajinikanth sir's heroic moments plays a big important role in my life. The love for films and fantasy for making films hit me through him. During my childhood days in Madurai, I used to go for Thalaivar's FDFS. It will be a feast and the attraction to films came to me from there. After making films, I have thought whether Rajinikanth sir will watch my films"
When I met him after Jigarthanda, Rajini sir told me that I should have asked him for the role of Assault Sethu in the movie and he would have done that. After that, I went to meet Rajinikanth sir once in 2014 to take pictures and get his autograph. He asked me to come and meet him and we spoke for a while. During the conversation, he asked to prepare a script for him and I was stunned and couldn't believe what was happening. I stayed like that for 2 days. It was a memorable conversation for me. After that, I made the script, went to him and narrated the Petta Script. I was waiting after narrating the script and I was afraid that I couldn't do a film with Thalaivar. Because he was busy with Kaala and then he made the political entry announcement. So I was afraid. I can make many films in my career and even if I get an OSCAR my life wouldn't be complete if I didn't do a film with Thalaivar and now It has happened and I think my life is complete. I narrated the script to Kalanidhi Maaran sir. He himself is a big fan of Superstar. He told me that it is a Thalaivar Padam and give me a Thalaivar film.
Even though I made a film, I am still the same old fanboy of Thalaivar. My assistant Bala handles Rajinikanth sir on set. Sometimes I get jealous of him that he is talking with him more than me. I am that much of a fan. Everyone who worked in the film is a Thalaivar fan so we all enjoyed to the core. Petta is inspired from, dedicated to and performed by Rajinikanth.
During old times, Vijay Sethupathi told me once that I will do a film with Thalaivar and he wants to be the villain in that movie. Bobby Simhaa and I are partners as ardent fans of Thalaivar. After I got on board he came to me and commanded for the role. During 2013 in an #AskNawaz Q & A session, I asked on Twitter whether he will act in a Tamil movie. He didn't respond at that time but now he came and acted in this film. My father is also a huge Rajinikanth fan. He is the reason for the love I have on Thalaivar.
Karthick Subbaraj signed off with a Rajinikanth dialogue from the movie Padayappa.

Thalaivar 165: Rajinikanth's Massive Salary For Karthik Subbaraj Film
By Vivek Raj | Galatta | 11:48 AM
Every news surrounding 'Superstar' Rajinikanth’s upcoming film tentatively being called Thalaivar 165 to be directed by Karthik Subbaraj under the Sun Pictures banner is creating immense curiosity among fans.
Apart from Rajinikanth, 'Makkal Selvan' Vijay Sethupathi too has been cast in a pivotal role in the film which will include music by Anirudh Ravichander.
Meanwhile, reports have surfaced now stating Rajinikanth will be paid an eye-popping Rs. 65 crores as salary in Thalaivar 165, which is expected to roll into production towards the end of this month or early June.
Production on the film can be expected to be wrapped up by the end of this year with the theatrical release mostly for next year.
As of now, Rajinikanth is in the US and is expected to return to Chennai to take part in the audio launch of Kaala on May 9.
Fans of 'Superstar' will get to watch their idol on screen in Kaala starting June 7 nearly two years after the blockbuster, Kabali.
Thalaivar 165 Vijay Sethupathi Still A Possibility For Rajinikanth Karthik Subbaraj Film
By Vivek Raj | Galatta | 03:13 PM
A film announcement that took literally everybody by surprise was when Sun Pictures made it official that 'Superstar' Rajinikanth would be working next with Karthik Subbaraj.
Earlier this week, reports popped up stating, acclaimed Bollywood actor Nawazuddin Siddiqui, a four-time winner of the Special Jury Award at the National Awards was being eyed for the role of the antagonist in the film tentatively being called Thalaivar 165.
Having said, Nawazuddin Siddiqui’s team has now denied those reports to be untrue and nothing more than just mere rumors.
This now brings us back to 'Makkal Selvan' Vijay Sethupathi, another popular name in the Tamil film industry, whose name recently popped up for the role of the villain in Thalaivar 165.
As of now, apart from Rajinikanth, no other casting has been made in the film which will have music by Anirudh Ravichander.
It must be noted Vijay Sethupathi has starred in all the films of Karthik Subbaraj (he did a cameo in Jigarthanda) with the exception of the upcoming Mercury.
If Vijay Sethupathi indeed does go on to get cast in Thalaivar 165, it would without a shadow of a doubt be the biggest casting announcement of 2018.
Furthermore, actress Trisha has been reported to be the prime contender for the role of the female lead in the film.
Looks like we will have to wait for some more time for new casting announcements of the film, which is expected to flag off production around the middle of this year.

Starring Prabhudeva in the lead role, Mercury made jointly by Pen Studios and Stone Bench Films features music by Santhosh Narayanan.
Initially announced for a April 13 release date, there has been quite a lot of debate on whether the film will make it to screens in Tamil Nadu owing to the ongoing Tamil Film Producers Council (TFPC) strike.

With the TFPC strike in effect for nearly 3 weeks, Karthik Subbaraj was confident about getting his silent film out in theatres on April 13 across the nation including Tamil Nadu. However, the filmmaker has now announced a new set of plans that will see the film come out across the nation except Tamil Nadu.
Karthik Subbaraj took to his Twitter to announce the Tamil version of Mercury will not come out in Tamil Nadu until the strike comes to an end.
In addition, the director has stated the film’s trailer initially planned to be unveiled yesterday (05.04.2018) had to be postponed and will be released in a day or two.
Mercury also stars actress Remya Nambeesan as the female lead.
Meyaadha Maan fame Indhuja is also said to be playing a crucial role in the film.
