The Galatta Golden Stars 2024 held held in Chennai on March 29 was a day to remember as several leading names in the film fraternity were honored on the big stage. Among those who went to be celebrated was Tamil superstar Karthi, who was conferred with the 'Entertainer of the Decade' award, which he went on to receive from leading Telugu actor Vijay Deverakonda and blockbuster filmmaker Sandeep Reddy Vanga. Expressing his joy at the special honor at the Galatta Golden Stars 2024, Karthi revealed that the love he has received over the years in Tamil cinema is something he never expected, while extending his gratitude to everyone who had supported him since he began his career.

Karthi started off his speech at the Galatta Golden Stars 2024 by saying, "I try not to repeat what I do and choose new themes in each of the films I do. There will be wins and losses at times, but I'm working to give you all a good theatrical experience on each occasion. This award has convinced me that I don't need to change myself, but to continue to keep working as I am. So, I thank Galatta and all the artistes, and all my fans." He further said, "Receiving this award from Vijay Deverakonda and Sandeep Reddy Vanga gives me a lot of pleasure."

Vijay Deverakonda then chimed in stating, "Much before I became an actor, I remember watching many of Karthi anna's films Yuganiki Okkadu (Aayirathil Oruvan), Naa Peru Shiva (Naan Mahaan Alla), and Paruthiveeran in pirated prints with subtitles in Telugu dubbing. These are some of my favorite films. These are all actors that I studied, watched, admired, and loved. I don't think I ever even told you this. So, it's amazing that I'm here today and it's an honor, and I'm so happy for everything he's doing and everything that's coming soon." Animal director Sandeep Reddy Vanga too showered his praise at the Galatta Golden Stars 2024 and said, "After Arjun Reddy, I got a surprise call from Karthi sir. He really loved the film and supported everything, and we spoke for long. And, for the first time, I'm seeing you sir. I saw all your films from your first film Paruthiveeran. I give so many examples of Paruthiveeran while I was making Kabir Singh in Bombay by showing some of your scenes to Shahid Kapoor and we took so many references. He deserves this award."

The celebrations didn't end there for the fans at the Galatta Golden Stars 2024 as Karthi and Vijay Deverakonda teamed up for a special dance performance to the 'Adada Mazhaida' song from Paiyaa (2010). There was yet another special honor for Karthi, who went on to be felicitated by the farming community for his efforts to promote agriculture through his Uzhavan Foundation. Filmmaker Raju Murugan's latest directorial, Japan, starring Karthi in the lead role is out in cinemas worldwide and is the actor's landmark 25th film in his glorious career. The hit director, who is known best for his films Cuckoo (2014), Joker (2016), and Gypsy (2020), recently sat down with Galatta to talk about his Japan and address whether the heist action comedy entertainer is based on a jewelry store burglary. Speaking about whether his film with Karthi is based on a real-life incident, Raju Murugan said, "No, it's not like that. This film is completely fictional based on my own imagination. There will be elements from my personal observations included in the story. Although there will be a collection of those aspects, this is a fictional story."

Addressing his speech at the Japan audio launch last month and how he said at the time that the film will raise the question of who the real thief is, Raju Murugan explained, "I've said this before about how Charlie Chaplin, M. R. Radha, and artistes like them did a satire on society with sarcasm. This isn't relegated to the politicians or the system but is rather a question posed to the entire society. If there's a burglar in our society, that question is addressed to everyone because such a space exists in each of us. We take money for votes and we say that the system is wrong. In such a scenario, there are many basic differences in us as a society. At such a point, we have to look at every one. The questions we ask the politicians need to be posed to the society. The people need to be assembled as a system and that's what many are doing constantly. This query is posed to the general society."

National Award-winning Tamil actor Suriya extended his heartfelt wishes to his younger brother Karthi on the release of his landmark 25th film, Japan, in theatres worldwide ahead of Diwali. The Soorarai Pottru (2020) star took to social media on Friday, November 10, and shared his hopes for the film to be a memorable outing for his sibling. "Let this special 25 be the one that reaches millions of hearts and may you stay in them forever Dearest Thambi @Karthi_Offl Win it big time #Japan and team!" (sic), Suriya wrote on X congratulating the Ponniyin Selvan star while sharing the release posters of his latest film directed by Raju Murugan of Cuckoo (2014), Joker (2016), and Gypsy (2020) fame.

Suriya's latest words of affirmation and love for Karthi show the special bond Tamil cinema's favorite siblings share for each other after the duo shared the stage at the star-studded Japan audio launch ceremony held in Chennai in October. The Jai Bhim (2021) star had noted his brother's growth and rise in Tamil cinema from the days of Paruthiveeran (2007), which was flagged off by 'Ulaganayagan' Kamal Haasan, with 'Superstar' Rajinikanth blessing him saying that he made use of the opportunity presented to him in all the bestways possible. During his speech at the Japan audio launch, Suriya also cited celebrated filmmaker Mani Ratnam, acclaimed director Ameer, and hit producer K. E. Gnanavel Raja for playing mentors to Karthi in the Tamil film industry.

With Suriya sharing his wishes to Karthi for Japan to become a major box-office success, fans have once again expressed their hope to witness the duo on the big screen as Dilli and Rolex in the Lokesh Cinematic Universe (LCU). Considering blockbuster director Lokesh Kanagaraj has often stated that both the actors' characters will meet at one point in the future, the excitement among fans keeps getting bigger by the day. Japan has Karthi paired with Anu Emmanuel, while the supporting cast includes K. S. Ravikumar, Sunil, Vijay Milton, and Vagai Chandrasekhar, among others, and features music composed by National Award winner G. V. Prakash Kumar. Suriya, on the other hand, is currently busy filming the highly-anticipated Kanguva under Siva's direction and is set to begin production work on the tentatively titled Suriya 43 with filmmaker Sudha Kongara once again after their Soorarai Pottru. He also has Vaadivaasal with National Award-winning director Vetri Maaran, which is based on Tamil writer C. S. Chellapa's novel of the same name.
